Cadillac will re-launch its certified pre-owned program, with the idea of boosting dealership sales and raising resale value on Cadillacs.

Buyers who qualify will have their first three months of payments--at rates down to 1.9 percent--taken care of by Cadillac. Certified pre-owned cars will undergo a 172-point inspection and be sold with a 6-year/100,000-mile limited warranty and 24-hour roadside assistance plus courtesy transportation.

The limited warranty will cover most major mechanical items, such as engine, transmission, struts, axles, air conditioning, heating, door, and sunroof.

We suspect that this is more proof that GM is feeling good about its recovery while still hedging its bets against possible dips in new-car sales. On top of that, GM is likely aware that the used-car market is doing well right now. Not to mention that Cadillac will need this program to compete with rival makes.

This is a program that makes sense and seems a bit overdue.
