With its sleek, elegant form, practical hatch-like rear cargo area, and fun, punchy 310-horsepower supercharged V-6 engine, the 2012 Audi A7 is a luxury/sport sedan that can do it all.

It's not even that expensive in base form, starting at $59,900. The options and add-ons can pile on the price quickly, but the upgrades are worth it if you can swing the extra cost.

Inside, the 2012 A7 brings one of the best interiors in the segment: excellent materials, great fit and finish, and contemporary, tasteful design. Upgrade to the Bang & Olufsen stereo (from the standard Bose unit) and you'll get even more high-end aesthetics to go with the acoustics: the door speaker panels are drilled slabs of solid aluminum.

Scoring 18/28 mpg in EPA estimates and coming with standard all-wheel drive, the A7 is not just practical in terms of space and utility; it's green enough for moderate commutes and well-suited to inclement weather.

While we did have a few gripes about our time spent with the 2012 A7, they're minor in comparison to the car's strengths, and the overall package of refinement, luxury, daily-driver validity, and surprisingly good performance make it a nominee for Motor Authority's 2012 Best Car To Buy award.
