BMW says its new 2012 6-Series Coupe--by the numbers, the 650i--will be priced from $83,875, including destination, when it goes on sale later in the year.

The new Coupe is the star at a press preview today in Baja Mexico, where BMW confirms the hardtop two-door will go on sale late in the summer with a slimmer pricetag than its drop-top companion.

Earlier this year, at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, BMW previewed the new 6-Series lineup, laying out details of the newer, sleeker body (which also it longer and wider than the previous-generation car), and the 650i Coupe's twin-turbo, 4.4-liter V-8 engine--said to be worth 400 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque.

BMW promises a 0-60 mph sprint in 4.8 seconds, with either the six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmissions. Top speed is set at 155 mph.

In Detroit, BMW also priced the Convertible version at $91,375, including destination charges.

Many versions of the 6-Series two-doors will be emerging in the coming months. BMW says the manual-transmission version won't be available at launch, but will be coming soon after. They're also confirming a new M6 and a six-cylinder 6-Series to come, but haven't pegged launch dates for either version.

If you're waiting for a diesel 6er Stateside, you're out of luck, though--BMW says it's not considering an oil-burning 6-Series for the American market.
