The 2012 Audi A7 is coming to the U.S., and it's coming soon: May, in fact, for a starting price of $59,250. It will also be somewhat limited in availability, as Audi expects demand to outstrip supply for the near term at least. Translation: get your order in ASAP if you want one of these four-door coupes.

And trust me, you do. With an interior unique to the Audi range in its driver-centric focus, matching the A8 in its supple luxury, not to mention the nail-on-the-head four-door-coupe profile, the A7 is every inch the Grand Tourer it aims to be.

How it drives is another matter, and one we'll have sorted for you in short order; as yet, there's just one A7 in the U.S. and no one is driving it. It's sitting in the IAC building in New York City as this is written.

The photos above show the U.S.-spec car at its unveiling event ahead of the New York Auto Show. It's powered by the 3.0T V-6 TFSI powerplant, a supercharged three-liter V-6 rated at 310 horsepower and 18/28 mpg, for 22 mpg combined. Whatever the figures, though, we're looking forward to the experience, as the look has us primed for something beyond the ordinary.

For something well beyond the ordinary, we're looking to the S7, which Audi confirmed to us this evening as definitely coming to the U.S.--we can't say exactly when, or how much it'll cost, but it's coming. Look for more info on the S7 soon.
