The Volvo S60 R Design was announced at the New York Auto Show this April, but it's finally on sale now, complete with its own configuration tool.

If you haven't had the chance to drive an S60 yet, you need to, especially the R-Design, which gains 25 horsepower and 29 pound-feet or torque for totals of 325 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. Even the standard S60 feels potent, pulling like a tiny freight train, or at least a meaty V-8. Materials and quality are very good, it handles well for a comfortable luxury sedan, and it's available with a healthy set of high-tech options.

Add in the R-Design package and it looks more like the sporty sedan it is, as well as handling even better thanks to a front strut brace, stiffer and 15 mm shorter springs, and Volvo's Corner Traction Control system with torque vectoring. Aesthetics are enhanced with 18-inch alloy wheels, special trim inside and out, sport seats, and chrome tailpipes.

The S60 R-Design starts at $42,275, a premium of $4,575 over the T6 AWD model, but can be optioned up as high as $52,455 with the addition of the climate, technology, and multimedia packages, plus all the a la carte features you can muster.
