Ever wondered what the BMW ActiveE looks like while it's rolling through the plant, innards exposed to the open air? Here's your answer. The 1-Series bodies in white glide through the Leipzig plant as they are built up into BMW's all-electric, lease-only ActiveE coupe.

As it's being build, BMW assembly worker Mirco Shwarze describes the process (thankfully translated into English). The Leipzig plant where the ActiveE is built is also where the new i3 will be built, right down to its carbon fiber chassis.

If you're in the market for a German EV, the ActiveE is your best (and only) bet at the moment. All you'll need is to live in one of the launch markets, meet BMW's criteria, and have $2,250 in cash and the ability to pay $499 per month.
