Update: The 2013 Audi RS4 Avant has been revealed. Click here for all the details and images.

After seeing the tempting spy shots earlier this week, we were eagerly looking forward to Audi's latest midsize RS model. But all is for naught, as Audi PR chief Jeff Kuhlman has said there's no plan to bring the RS4 to the U.S.

Why, you ask? Because Audi doesn't want to spoil the RS image in the U.S. Err, huh? TT RS and RS5 are OK, but put all that performance (and more) in a more practical package, and it's somehow over-extending the brand? We do not follow.

In other news, the A6 will be available with a 2.0-liter turbo at launch, making it the first four-cylinder A6 in the U.S. Wake us when something interesting happens.
