The stunning 2012 Jaguar XKR-S is still doing the rounds of auto show appearances ahead of an official showroom debut later in the year, but its time in the limelight may not last that long as there’s word that several other high-performance ‘R-S’ Jags are in the works.

A Jaguar XKR-S Convertible, complete with the same 550 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine as its Coupe sibling, is reportedly coming, along with an XFR-S version of the recently revealed 2012 Jaguar XFR.

The information was revealed to Auto Express by an inside source who also stated that because the XK was designed from the ground up to spawn a convertible bodystyle, its rigid aluminum structure won’t need extra bracing to cope with the increase in power.

It should carry a higher pricetag than the hard-top, and feature all the XKR-S detailing such as the wider wheelarches, carbon fiber splitters and enlarged air intakes. The car’s electronically limited top speed should also be lifted to the 186 mph mark.

The good news is that the same source also confirmed that the 550 horsepower V-8 will also make its way into the XFR’s engine bay. This should keep the muscle sedan comparable with the next-generation BMW M5 and Audi RS6, both of which are expected to develop in excess of 550 horsepower.

Expect 0-60 times of around 4.0 seconds for the new XFR-S, as well as a top speed in excess of 180 mph.

Unfortunately, no release dates were mentioned, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see the two new high-performance Jags appear before the end of next year.
