McLaren is expanding in the Middle East and to mark the occasion the automaker has released a new video of its MP4-12C supercar driving through the desert on its way to Yas Marina Circuit, home of the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and the Ferrari World theme park.

In particular, the video marks the launch of the McLaren Abu Dhabi dealership, which is an important milestone in the development of the brand new McLaren Middle East dealer network.

The milestone is just part of a greater plan to open 35 new McLaren dealerships in 19 countries around the world by the end of this year, each of which will feature their own historic race car from McLaren's secret 'Unit 2' warehouse.

Establishing the new dealer network is vital to McLaren’s goal of selling around 4,000 cars per year. This is almost double the number of cars Lamborghini sells, and it appears all the more ambitious when you consider that McLaren’s last model, the legendary F1, was last sold more than 20 years ago.

On the other hand, McLaren plans to launch a variety of new models, including the MP4-12C, which has just gone on sale and will soon be followed by a convertible version. Also in the pipeline is a flagship supercar codenamed P12 and described as the true successor to the F1, as well as an ‘entry-level’ sports car that will compete against the likes of the Porsche 911.

Incidentally, the video was shot over a period of six days using the latest in RED camera technology; a cutting-edge approach to film-making giving extremely high definition quality footage more commonly found in cinematic films.
