Produced for just one model year, the BMW 1-Series M Coupe will surely be one of the most sought after models by collectors in years to come, so if you have one in good nick it may be a good idea to look after it well. If, however, you’re still regretting not putting down a deposit when they were available, a tuning firm in Germany looks to have the next best thing.

TJ Fahrzeugdesign has built a replica 1-Series M Coupe based on the regular 1-Series coupe. The car comes complete with pumped fenders and widened bumpers, though rather than sticking with a straight-six engine, the mad tuners decided to drop in the 5.0-liter V-10 engine from the previous-generation M5.

But the madness doesn’t end there. Not content with the 507 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque of the stock V-10, the tuning firm has remapped the engine’s ECU to liberate an additional 43 horsepower and raise the redline to 8,600 rpm.

They also installed the M5’s SMG automated manual ‘box and numerous other performance bits, including the brakes from an X6 M SUV. One necessary requirement of the engine install was a shortening of the driveshaft.

The suspension is from the experts at KW and the wheels measure in at 20-inches diameter.

Initial testing has shown the car is capable of 0-60 runs in about 4.2 seconds, while a top speed of 202 mph has been clocked.

In case you’re interested, TJ Fahrzeugdesign charges about 20,000 euros (approximately $25,729) for the basic upgrade. Head over to Bimmer Today for more details and images.
