BMW has launched the first-ever user-generated iAd to promote the arrival of the all-new 2011 BMW X3. For anyone not in tune with the latest tech, iAd is Apple's new mobile advertising network and has the potential to reach millions of iPhone and iPod touch users.

The focus of the iAd is BMW's built-to-order program that allows customers to create an entirely customized X3 SUV. As we reported back in May, BMW is hoping to convince customers that pre-ordering vehicles is worth the wait as it will mean that they can enjoy a vehicle built to their exact specifications.

Not surprisingly, the iAd is the primary mobile component of the X3's marketing campaign and will allow customers to have their own custom-built X3 delivered to their driveway in just a few weeks.

Some of the special features include a series of “Dreams” selected from hundreds of real submissions on Facebook over the weeks leading up to the iAd’s launch. They represent how people picture having the new X3 in their lives. There’s also a configurator that allows customers to explore the X3’s 70 million unique configurations, as well as a dealer locator for when they are ready to buy or explore the vehicle in person.
