Leave it to the upcoming SEMA show to bring out some interesting custom concepts.

When the Chevrolet Camaro was reborn recently, there was no Pontiac Firebird version, primarily since Pontiac ceased existence as a company as part of General Motor's bankruptcy reorganization. But even if Pontiac stuck around, GM never appeared to have any serious plans for a new Firebird on the drawing board.

Enter Heide Performance Products, or HPP for short. The company is bringing a pair of modified Camaros--one that pays homage to the late Firebird--to SEMA next week.

HPP has turned a Camaro into a Firebird look-a-like through the use of body-kit pieces, such as a split-window grille that pays homage to the 1970s-era Firebird Trans Am. Other body modifications include a trunk spoiler, rear fender vents, a new hood, and different side mirrors.

The non-Firebird Camaro gets new wheels and tires, blacked-out headlights, and a custom body kit.

Check back next week for more coverage of the upcoming SEMA show.
