With just about a week and a half until the start of press days for the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show, BMW is getting excited about its stand. Unfortunately, it's going to be filled with cars we've already seen--just not in North America.

The headliner is the Concept 6-Series Coupe, BMW's "design study" (read: production preview) of its next 2+2 grand tourer. Blending the best of BMW's past with what it hopes will be the best of its future, the Concept 6-Series Coupe shows off all-LED headlights, a 10.2-inch iDrive control display, and, of course, an all-new exterior and mostly-new interior design.

The 2011 BMW X3 brings the next generation of BMW's engines to an updated exterior. Moving away from the twin-turbo and recall-prone N54 engine, the new xDrive35i uses the direct-injection N55 variable single turbo to turn out essentially the same power and torque figures. The new top-line X3 is good for a 5.5-second 0-60-mph sprint--well into sports car territory--and an electronically limited top speed of 150 mph.

The xDrive28i variant will also be on display. Using the same 3.0-liter inline six block without the turbocharging, the engine rates 240 horsepower and 230 pound-feet of torque, scooting the crossover to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds--about a half-second quicker than the previous xDrive30i.
