2011-cadillac-srx-fwd-4-door-performance

Earlier this year, Cadillac dropped the 2.8-liter turbocharged V-6 engine option from its SRX crossover. There was some curiosity about the move, since the 2.8-liter six offered much improved performance compared to the 3.0-liter V-6 that is currently standard equipment in the SRX.

Well, wonder no more. GM Inside News (GMI) reports that its sources are saying that the 2012 Cadillac SRX will get an upgraded version of the company's excellent 3.6-liter V-6.

Known as the "LFX," not much is known about the updated engine, but GMI says a power bump is likely over the 304-hp the direct-injection V-6 currently puts out in the CTS. Furthermore, the 3.6-liter engine will be the only engine available in the SRX in the U.S., although the 3.0-liter may soldier on in foreign markets.

Other upgrades for the 2012 model year include a heated steering wheel.
