In the past couple of months Lotus has unveiled a total of six new concept cars, all of which the automaker claims are production-intent designs. Not only that but the automaker has also previewed a range of downsized engines and advanced hybrid technology so it’s safe to say things must be terribly busy for the guys at Lotus’ headquarters in Hethel, UK.

To help ease the workload Lotus has announced the appointment of former Ferrari exec Guillaume Chabin and former BMW exec and Maserati boss Karl-Heinz Kalbfell, both of whom will report to CEO Dany Bahar, himself a former Ferrari man.

Chabin was previously the chief of Ferrari's North Europe division and has worked previously at Bentley. He will now head Lotus’ sales. Kalbfell, meanwhile, will manage the coordination of Lotus’ management team and in the past has worked for BMW’s M division where he helped develop the V-12 engine for the McLaren F1 supercar. He’s also handled CEO positions at Rolls-Royce, Alfa Romeo and Maserati.

This latest news of high-level executive appointments at Lotus is further confirmation that the automaker is serious about the development of its future models and objective to boost sales to around 8,000 units worldwide by 2015. Last year Lotus sold just 2,500 cars.

Some of the new models Lotus has planned include the Esprit supercar due in 2013, as well as the Elite grand tourer pegged for 2014, Eterne four-door coupe in 2015 and the new Elise and Elan sports cars due in 2014.

Interestingly, Lotus is also planning a compact city car, which you can read about by clicking here.
