No question, Volvo is taking a big step, design-wise, with its new 2011 S60 sport sedan, and we think the new look works especially well in V60 sport-wagon form. As S60 chief designer Jonathan Disley recently told MotorAuthority, Volvo is harnessing more of Scandinavia's design heritage and moving forward, with curvier exteriors and high-contrast interiors that are modern yet warm.
To add a little more flair to the package, Volvo pulled the wraps off both cars in sporty R-Design guise, which brings a more aggressive, sporty look overall.
R-Design details include a glossy piano black grille, color-matched body trim, matte-finish details, and a hexagonal pattern that's repeated on various trim pieces. In back, dual exhausts and special 18-inch Diamond cut alloys bring it a special look.
Inside, the R-Design gets sport seats with more side support, plus special two-tone themes with contrast stitching and a unique steering-wheel design, shift knob, sports pedals, and R-Design floor mats.
Initially, all R-Design S60 and V60 models will be in Passion Red, but eight colors in all will be offered.
The R-Design models will hit the market beginning this fall, and it's likely we'll see the S60 R-Design here in the U.S. As for the V60, take a look at these pictures from the show and dream.
