Revealed at this week’s Chicago Auto Show, Ram’s big “what’s beneath the curtain” teaser turned out to be the 2012 Ram Laramie Limited, which will also feature prominently in the upcoming Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition.

It’s not the new Ram SRT10 we were hoping for, but it’s still a well-appointed full-size pickup. Exterior styling cues include body-colored front and rear bumpers, color-matched fender flares, chrome mirror and door trim, chrome side steps and chrome 20-inch wheels (on Ram 1500 models).

Inside, buyers get Natura Plus leather upholstery with contrasting piping, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with contrasting stitching, contrasting stitching on the dash, chrome and brushed metal trim and details like polished buckles on seat-back pouches.

The new Laramie Limited is essentially a Laramie Longhorn Edition without the two-tone paint and Western-motif styling. It was built at the request of Midwest buyers, who wanted the same level of luxury found in the Laramie Longhorn but with more subtle (and some would say, tasteful) styling.

The Laramie Limited trim will be available on Ram 1500, 2500 HD and 3500 HD models, and is expected to hit dealers in the second quarter.
