Set to go on sale shortly after their debut at next week’s 2010 Paris Auto Show, the modified S60 and V60 models have been spruced up with a specially tuned lowered sports chassis and distinctive bodykits. Sadly, the V60 is still not scheduled for a U.S. launch but the S60 is here and soon the new R-Design model will be too.
On the outside it's easy to recognize the typical R-Design attributes: door mirror housings, trim moldings and trim in matte silk metal finish, skid-plates, chrome tailpipes and 18 inch wheels. And a similar story can be told for the interior, which benefits from new ergonomic sports seats for the front passenger and driver, as well as a special steering wheel, gear selector, sports pedals and floor-mats.
Volvo is hoping that its new line of sporty R-Design models will help bring in a younger demographic of buyers and is predicting that roughly 10 percent of all S60 and V60 sales will include the R-Design option.
Other Volvo R-Design models include the entry-level C30 hatch, stylish XC60 crossover and XC90 SUV.
