As the world anxiously awaits the long-rumored MINI crossover, the 2010 Detroit Auto Show presents a stylized glimpse of what the production vehicle may look like in the form of the MINI Beachcomber Concept. Built along the classic design parameters of the Mini Moke, the Beachcomber is a ruggedized minicar for the modern-day surfer...or shark, it seems.
While the show car is doorless and features an almost completely open top/rear cargo area, the production vehicle will be fully enclosed. Still, these live shots from the floor of the Detroit show give us some perspective on the size of the MINI crossover.
And that size is still pretty small, even with the taller suspension and larger tires that enable it to pull mild off-road duty. It's just a shade over 13 feet long, features MINI's ALL4 all-wheel drive system and wears contemporary MINI styling inside and out.
