The all-new 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG supercar will be the highlight of the German automaker’s stand at the biannual Dubai Motor Show, which is taking place this week. However, the car on display won’t be your plain, everyday, run-of-the-mill SLS AMG. Instead, it will feature a distinct golden paint finish dubbed “AMG Desert Gold” that is unique to the show car.

Matt gold on the aluminum body together with striking highlights in gloss black give it a very unique look that we must say looks simply stunning. Most of the body is finished in the matt silk surface, while all the decorative and mounted features that usually come in shining or shadow chrome on the standard SLS AMG have been given a deep-black paint finish. Even the alloy wheels get this same black finish.

Its designers are keen to stress that the AMG Desert Gold finish has currently only been used for the display vehicle at the Dubai Motor Show, but given sufficient customer demand, it could become available as an individual optional extra from the AMG Performance Studio customization program.

Otherwise, the car is very much standard, with a thunderous 571 horsepower V-8 and a quick-shifting 7-speed dual-clutch transmission present under the pretty sheet metal. For a taste of what the latest supercar is like out on the roads, check out our first drive report by clicking here.
