The Fiat 500 minicar was first unveiled more than a year ago and since then we’ve seen the launch of the sporty Abarth model and even a couple of special edition models. What we are yet to come across is the upcoming Cabrio, which has been spotted by spy photographers almost completely undisguised ahead of its launch on the 16th of this month.

The 500’s compact size and low cost means it’ll make do with a manual folding soft-top and will likely provide seating for only two passengers. Fiat’s styling director Roberto Giolito has previously stated that the car would remain simple and affordable, and that recent advances in fabric roof design will remove some off the perceived drawbacks. The included computer generated renderings give a good indication as to what the final version could look like, but we’ll have to wait until the car’s reveal next week to see the final result.

Engine options will likely remain the same as the hardtop, which means the 70hp (52kW) 1.2L and 100hp (75kW) 1.4L petrol engines and the ultra-efficient 75hp (56kW) 1.3L Multijet diesel will carry over.
