Leaked Mini Roadster Concept Sketch

Leaked Mini Roadster Concept Sketch

The 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show is now just about two weeks away, and Mini in particular is ramping up to do the show in style. On Wednesday, the company revealed its new Coupe concept, and today a sketch of the Roadster that's expected to join it on the German show stage has leaked.

The Roadster has been expected for some time now, and the latest image, sourced via InsideLine, reveals that its appearance is remarkably close to the rendering we brought you back in June, which you can also see below.

August 26 was the actual 50th anniversary of the Mini brand, and to celebrate the occasion, Mini revealed its upcoming two-seater coupe concept, to be officially unveiled at Frankfurt.

The coupe is based on the same 211-horsepower turbocharged mechanical underpinnings as the John Cooper Works Mini for an added dash of sportiness, and while the roadster's running gear hasn't been disclosed, it's likely to get similar treatment.

Neither the Coupe nor the Roadster have yet been officially announced for production - that will come at Frankfurt at the earliest - but the news accompanying the leaked sketch today indicates both cars will see global sale in 2011.
