With the Geneva Motor Show just past it seems like the market experiencing a glut of special-edition cars at the moment, but Volvo has decided to add another to heap: the UK-market Ice White C70. The unique trim and appearance package for the hardtop coupe-convertible promises 'aspirational' looks.

The C70 coupe-convertible at the core of the Ice White package is a standard 2.0D S model. The diesel engine lends a solid layer of efficiency to the car, but unfortunately rules it out for U.S. buyers, since we don't get the diesel C70 here.

The rest of the package features a unique Ice White exterior paint, a unique three-piece metal roof, and an interior upholstered in Calcite white leather with black trim and aluminum inlays. Eighteen inch Midir diamond-cut alloy wheels warp up the visual conversion.

The Ice White's standard features list is a long one, but the highlights include front fog lights, electronic climate control with Volvo's air quality system, plus a bevy of the Swedish carmaker's legendary safety technology: WHIPS (whiplash protection), SIPS (side impact protection), ROPS (roll-over protection) and an inflatable curtain of airbags.

Powered by a 2.0L diesel engine, the Ice White is rated at 134hp (100kW) and a frugal 37.3mpg US (6.3L/100km) when mated to the optional Powershift dual-clutch gearbox.

The choice of a diesel in an up-market special edition might seem contradictory especially to Americans, but it could also be seen as part of Volvo's larger plans to help improve its environmental image and move further upscale at the same time.
