Land Rover, the company famous for building oversized luxury SUVs has unveiled a new concept vehicle designed to reflect its seriousness about continued relevance and sustainable motoring. Some of the new features the LRX Concept highlights are its compact size, lightweight design and use of environmentally-responsible materials.

The official word is that this is purely a concept designed to gauge customer reaction but a production version is tipped to hit the streets in 2009. More details about the LRX concept, including its new powertrain, will be revealed at the car’s Detroit Auto Show debut next month.
