We rarely cover vans on Motor Authority, preferring instead to write about high-performance exotica, but we couldn’t resist this extended Ford transit van. The Transit XXL literally stretches the van to new lengths and is made from two short wheel base Transit Tourneo models which have been meticulously joined together. The Transit XXL carries the driver plus seven passengers in full 'first class' comfort. It measures 7.4m in length, more than a meter longer than the biggest Maybach. The Transit XXL also features four full sliding doors – two on each side – while the entire vehicle has privacy glass allowing occupants to be transported in appropriate anonymity. The XXL was extensively strengthened under the floor and in the roof to ensure that the vehicle is torsionally rigid and safe, and weighs in at 2500kg.
We wonder whether Ford will be hiring it out to weddings and formals to help erase its massive debt.
