Ford receives more than 1,000 orders for new Focus RS

Ford dealers in the UK have been inundated with orders for the upcoming Focus RS hot-hatch, which was previewed recently in concept form at July’s British Motor Show. So far more than 1,000 customer orders have been placed, with close to 40% of the applicants requesting the new ‘Electric Green’ color scheme depicted on the concept.

The car will also be available in ‘Frozen White’ and ‘Electric Blue’ color schemes.

What’s interesting is that Ford hasn’t even revealed the final specifications for the car, what trim and equipment will be available, or even a price. Some of the features displayed on the concept that are expected to make it to the production version include the 19in wheels, Recaro bucket seats and the unique ‘RevoKnuckle’ suspension set-up.

One thing that is guaranteed is that the new hatch will feature a Duratec 2.5L five-cylinder turbocharged developing 300hp (224kW) and 302lb-ft (410Nm) of torque and driving the front wheels only.

Ford’s boss in the UK, Roelant de Waard, said his company was “delighted by the reaction of performance car enthusiasts to the new Focus RS and that so many want to place orders even though it will not be available until early next year.”

But I can only imagine how much fun that much power in such a little car will be like. Now if they can control the torque steer...
