The GM engineer has now revealed the ZR1 will be the most fuel-efficient 600hp car you can buy in the world, although he wasn’t willing to give exact numbers, Edmunds reports. He did however, mention that its fuel economy "will be somewhat less than a Z06,” which according to EPA tests returns 15mpg on in the city and 24mpg on the highway.
Juechter also said production of the ZR1 will start this summer, "and we can produce approximately 2,000 ZR1s per year for the world." Final pricing will be announced later this month and is expected to be around the $100,000 mark.

Nobody can beat Nissan at fake ridiculous claims :)
Juechter didn't know what is going to come, he was thinking of honest competitors...

As far as limited productions go, 2,000 units ain't bad at all.

This is a wonderful car but it's never going to beat Nissan at Nürburgring.

Who cares if it doesn't beat GTR at Nurburgring though, i mean what difference does it really make to the people actually buying these cars. As long as this car can get close to 7:30 i think it's fast enough.
Honestly though, i would prefer this over GTR, it's just so much more exciting, and will no doubt have a much better sound track. However, the interior does look rather dated and cheap compared to GTR

I know which one I'd rather be if it started raining and I was at high speed - The awd G T R.
You need near perfect conditions to lap that fiberglass ZR1. Keep in mind the forthcoming "V" Edition GTR will go even faster - Its a much better value and it is quite striking in person.

Vette is a great car and I'd choose it over GTR anytime (IMO looks better, sounds better and RWD is a lot cooler). But there is no way it beats 7 m 29 s.

I've got my money on 7:29, but lex is right. the spec-v will take back the title. better value? hell no. paying another 30 grand for another 3 seconds isnt value. the ZR1 isnt even "good value" compared to the standard C6. the standard vehicle isn't that much heavier than the ZR1 and for that matter, 430 hp isn't exactly "stingey" on a 3000 lbs car.
my focus hatch back weighed almost that much.

Of course the standard C6 isn't much heavier than the ZR-1. The ZR-1 has a intercooled supercharger. (they aren't exactly light)

The horsepower this car has versus its price makes it a true bargain car. It was named on the front cover of some magazine as being "America's Ferrari killer". And indeed it is. If General Motors made this car to sell for only $100,000 just imagine what General Motors could do with $200,000.

I mean, General Motors already supplies engines for supercars such as the SSC Super Aero. And that car is currently the fasts production car in the world. It has a Chevrolet Corvette engine.

General Motors could definitly make one bad a** car with $200,000.

No one gives a shit that an Automatic can win in the track. It should every single time if its a race automatic trans because its always in the perfect gear. With a manual it all depends on the driver.
If a Z06 had that trans setup it would post 11.3 in the 1/4 and the zr1 10's .acording to motor or road and track. One idiot said he would rather drive a grt in the rain? well if your racing in the rain your retarted.
Even if the Zr1 had a dualclutch trany I would not buy one I would get the 6speed. Zr1 exterior looks like a 40k car not a 100k car. same goes for interior.
Gm should make a 4wheel drive dual clutch Z06 not even a Zr1 to Rape destroy all track records just for bragin rights.

The interior and exterior isn't what matters. It's the engine that makes the car, not the looks. And the ZR-1 has one nice engine for what it's priced for. When it comes to performance supercars, the main thing that matters is the speed, not looks
