American Suzuki has followed the lead of Chrysler and is offering its customers three months of free fuel as well as zero percent financing on retail purchases of all new 2007 and 2008 vehicles. Yesterday Chrysler announced it would offer customers petrol at a locked price of $2.99 a gallon for the next three years when they purchase select Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler models.
Suzuki’s offer, cleverly labeled ‘Free Gas for Summer,’ comes as U.S. media is hyping the gas tax ‘holiday’ proposed by presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and John McCain. Suzuki’s new program kicked off May 1 and runs through June 30, reports Automotive News.
Unlike Chrysler’s offer, which could potentially save customers up to $3,000, Suzuki customers will only pocket about $300 to $400 in savings.
GM, Ford, and Toyota, meanwhile, have confirmed they have no plans to offer similar fuel subsidy deals. Instead, they plan to focus on improving the efficiency of their vehicles, which could potentially net much bigger savings for customers.
