Chrysler laid out most of its future plans earlier today, revealing information about a score of upcoming models and technologies including new dual-clutch transmissions, a hybrid Dodge Ram, a fuel-efficient AWD system and a Nissan-sourced small hatch just to name a few, and now we have news of one more item, this time from Mopar. The Chrysler parts supplier has confirmed plans to roll out an aftermarket in-vehicle “hot spot” system later in the year.
The technology will deliver Internet and e-mail access and movie and music download capability directly to the vehicle. The system is able to provide high-speed data transfer and combines WiFi and 4G connectivity.
The new set-up will use a portable device that connects with a vehicle’s USB port and is compatible with all Chrysler vehicles equipped with the optional MyGiG multimedia system. Chrysler hasn’t confirmed which models will be available with the “hot spot” wireless technology but it’s likely the Dodge Viper and Caliber plus the Jeep Compass and Patriot will miss out initially as none of these vehicles come with the current MyGiG system.

cool tech. unfortunately, internet acess like this costs a fortune because you’re using cellular subscriptions at the same time. hope your teen wasnt planning on playing WoW on the way to Jellystone.
