Audi takes its time building the R8

Posted on Thursday 18 October 2007

The newest supercar contender from Audi has shown itself well, comparing favorably with the Lamborghini Gallardo, its corporate sibling. Now Audi has made a new commercial showing that the R8 offers not just performance but quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. Check out the video after the jump.

Billing the R8 as the “slowest car we’ve ever built,” the new Audi ad campaign features the R8 in a garage that looks like a microchip clean room, being assembled in a ghost-like series of time-lapsed blurs and streaks, complete with laser tolerance inspection. The ad campaign, running in the UK, is said to have cost 6 million pounds, reports The German Car Blog. The whole scene is set to the sound of Simone White’s ‘The Beep Beep Song,’ a mellow and appropriately car-themed love song.

Check out the video below to see what all the fuss is about.
