The E7 hasn't even secured its final name yet - Carbon Motors will be relying on the law enforcement community to choose a name for the vehicle ahead of production. Nevertheless, the car is looking more like a real product that could actually come to market, and judging by the reception of the police community, the vehicle will be on at least some city streets in the near future.
The tour to promote the car kicked off in Chicago next Monday, October 14, offering the first public glimpse of the car. The reveal at the 115th International Association of Police Chiefs convention today gives the best view of the car yet, thanks to the new video of the car, which shows it inside and out in real-world trim.
The E7 is still just a prototype at this point, though it is no longer just a computer rendering, which is a step in the right direction. Designed as a completely unique and specific tool for law enforcement agencies, Carbon Motors plans to outfit the E7 with a 300hp (224kW) 3.0L turbodiesel engine with 420lb-ft (568Nm) of torque and RWD. A six-speed automatic will handle shifting duties, while a McPherson strut front suspension and multi-link rear with self-leveling shocks give the car real handling potential.
Despite being diesel-powered, the car won't be pokey - Carbon Motors claims a 0-60mph (96km/h) time of 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 155mph (250km/h). Braking from 60mph (96km/h) is handled in 125ft (38m) and lateral grip is a claimed 0.85g. It will also be rather fuel-efficient, rated at an estimated 28-30mpg (7.8-8.4L/100km).

1. I cant believe they went through the trouble = In the video, they blur out the Ford logo on the Crown Vic
2. 0-60 in 6.5? Top speed of 155? I guess top speed is okay but these are our men and women on the streets they deserve better than 6.5, there's an infiniti truck that accelerates faster than that.

With all the law enforcement safety options now incorporated into the vehicle does this mean that I will no longer see officers with a cell phone pinned between their ear and shoulder while typing on their laptops cruising down the freeway?
Ultimately though this car is years away what with major U.S. cities currently laying off officers and doubling up the ones they do have in the same car due to no money.
Anyone remember Checker Cabs? Its way cheaper to convert an existing platform what I find funny is how the movie states such converted cars are dangerous? Give me a break folks!!

the only problem is that cops need cheap cars so when they're damaged its quick cheap and easy to repair, having a purpose built car may lead to much higher costs. this is a great idea if they can make the car strong, cheap and fast!
