In addition the current 302hp (227kW) V6 engine from the sedan, the new wagon will also be available with a 2.9L V6 turbodiesel although it will be primarily reserved for European and Asian markets. The diesel is a compact, dual overhead cam, four-valve V6 and is rated at 250hp (184 kW) and 406lb-ft (550Nm) of torque.
Fuel economy is expected to be similar to the existing sedan’s 26mpg (9L/100km) highway rating for the petrol unit. General Motors is yet to reveal fuel economy ratings for the diesel and whether it will be offered in North America.
Both engines are matched with either an Aisin six-speed manual or an electronically controlled Hydra-Matic 6L50 six-speed automatic. As is the case on the sport sedan, the CTS Sport Wagon includes AWD as an option.
Unique features of the wagon are a power-operated tailgate and up to 58 cubic feet of storage thanks to the split-folding 2nd row seat. This is reduced to 25 cubic feet when the seats are put back in place. Despite a similar 2,880mm wheelbase as the sedan, the Sport Wagon is 7mm shorter overall.
According to Automotive News, there could eventually be a V-Series performance edition of the Sport Wagon although the timeline for such a product remains unclear.

I would way rather have an audi wagon, no one design's avant's or estates like audi.

I for one would take the Insignia wagon from a few posts back then this... a bit too boxy for my taste - w/ that said I think the regular sedan version is very very nice.

I usually like GM's styling, new CTS included, but what is with the huge sail panel/D pillar on this one?! Massive blind spot, and bad headroom for rear-seat entry/exit. The fixed rearmost windows need to be, like, a foot longer! Also there are way to many surfaces/facets on the fang-y rear end.
At least the CTS coupe looks good.
I miss all the GM wagons, but I'm afraid this one's a miss, or a mess, or both. The SRX, BRX, and Saab 9-3 Combi all get it much better. I'd sooner see a Lucerne, Invicta, Malibu, or G6 wagon, for way less money!
Cadillac should skip this exercise and fast-forward to a production version of the IMAJ.

"Dodge Caliber" is what I meant about the rear hatch.
The return to the cursive script "Cadillac" on the rear hatch lift trim also seems a little incongruous.

Blah blah blah, typical negative comments, I say way to go Caddy, another stunner for Caddy, now hurry up and bring the coupe as well.

I like it, it looks nice and solid PLUS having the added advantage of being unlike anything else out there. Wagons are not very common on Amerian roads.
And this is why it will fail. Americans have a negative image of wagons so that not even the beautiful Audi Avants sell in any meaningful way. What makes GM think they're gonna succeed? Probably the same thing that makes them think the new El Camino look alike will.

Have a look at GM-Holden Australia Commodore SportWagon. That is a good looking vehicle already on sale. The G8 version of the sedan is selling in the US? What we need here now is the Turbo Diesel V6.

Don't get me wrong. I am a GM fanatic, and have owned a dozen or so fantastic Cadillacs. And I love station wagons, whether you call them sport wagons or combi's or avants. But this one has an ill proportion...it might have been better to do a hatch, like the Citroen C6.
The new CTS sedan looks great, as does the coupe, but I stand by my criticism of the rear of this wagon - after a quick count, there are at least 38 different surface planes.
From the side, the heavy D-pillar puts way too much visual mass above the beltline.
On a positive note, the entire side window trace is pretty dang close to the '80-'85 Seville...also a love-it-or-hate-it model!

The Sport wagon again shows how dumb GM is. They already have a sprty wagon in the SRX, built on the CTS platform and reviews say it handles very well. Dumb dumb DUMB!!!

It’s amazing how all of the American car companies try to advertise their image as innovators & leaders but don't deliver. I want a sporty wagon with a 3rd row seat, diesel engine and a manual transmission. At least GM offers some models with manual transmissions. No American company offers any type of vehicle with 3 rows of seating and a diesel engine although Jeep could have with their Commander but only offered it with sister model, the Cherokee. The 7500 pound Ford Excursion was the only game in town, which is a little bigger than what my wife wants to drive. Why didn’t Volkswagon offer their turbo diesel in the re-badged Town & Country?
I'm one very frustrated American who has little sympathy for the ailing automakers.

You know a few months ago There were some gm dealers having a car show in the parking lot of the grocery store near my house advertising the military discount and I asked one of them if OnStar can be nixed optionally Well he said that Onstar will be nixed from the Whole GM line in a few years,in conclusion that will be when this ford enthuiseist . buys a GM vehicle.
