BMW reveals 2009 model year updates for M range

BMW will be introducing a host of updates for its M range of cars for the 2009 model year, with a number of styling and mechanical changes, plus increased equipment found on the latest M3, M5 and M6 models. Major changes include the introduction of BMW’s new iDrive system throughout the range as well as a new ‘Competition Package’ for the M6 Coupe.

For the M3, BMW is adding the new Sedan variant and is offering the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with Drivelogic across the range. Several updates also feature in the interior. These include a revised centre armrest, new switchgear and new air outlets for the air-conditioning system. All M3 variants also receive active head-restraints for the front seats as well as a several new exterior colors.

For the M5 and M6 models, BMW has added new side mirrors with an increased field of view. BMW is also planning to add more EfficientDynamics features include brake-energy regeneration systems and electrically powered air-conditioning systems. The cars also get new color schemes, including a carbon-black option, as well as the updated iDrive system.

A new navigation system also debuts, which includes new 3D mapping and guidance software, BMW's ConnectedDrive internet system and an 80Gb hard-disk for mapping and media files.

    I remember seeing a revival of BMW M1 here on MotorA not long ago.....and it wasn't pretty.
    I might have to shift my allegiances to Audi soon. Audis R8 is one bad***!
