  • Vath boosts C63 AMG Estate to 585hp V63 RS status

Vath boosts C63 AMG Estate to 585hp V63 RS status Carbon emissions taxes and fuel efficiency requirements are throwing a bit of a wet blanket on the horsepower wars, especially in Europe, but the aftermarket is carrying on the battle with undiminished ferocity. The latest combatant is Vath's V63 RS Estate, a re-interpretation of the already impressive Mercedes Benz C63 AMG Estate.

For those that are thinking this sounds familiar, it is. Vath released a nearly identical tuning package for the C63 AMG sedan last year. Once the gang at Vath are done with them, both cars generate 585hp (436kW) and 510lb-ft (690Nm) of torque - up 130hp (97kW) and 66lb-ft (90Nm) over the stock values.

But even with all that power, the V63 RS is barely on par with a stock Audi RS6 Avant, though its 6.2L V8 is a very different beast than the twin-turbo V10 in the RS6. The V63 RS Estate also adds a small factory's worth of carbon fiber accessories, including hood, rear diffuser and interior trim, ensuring a unique look and improved performance. Other performance upgrades include 20in alloy wheels, 9in wide in the front and 10.5in wide in the rear, to help provide the grip that all that power will need. High performance brakes are also fitted to match the engine's new potential, and the car's 202mph (325km/h) top speed. Via: Autoblog.nlVath V63 RS Estate Read More
  • Vath V58K turns Mercedes' SLK55 AMG up to 565hp

Vath V58K turns Mercedes' SLK55 AMG up to 565hp Tuner cars are often examples of the worst sort of overkill, but occasionally a car will sneak through with less-than-typical appearance modifications and a monstrously re-engineered heart. Such is the case with the Vath V58K, an extreme take on the SLK 55 AMG.

The Germans at Vath decided that 5.5L and natural aspiration were simply inadequate, and so took displacement up to 5.8L and added a supercharger to boost output from the stock 360hp (269kW) to a thunderous 565hp (421kW) and turning torque up from 377lb-ft (510Nm) to 569lb-ft (770Nm).

That's enough to push 0-100km/h times down into the 4 second range, just a tick behind the Porsche... That's enough to push 0-100km/h times down into the 4 second range, just a tick behind the Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet. Top speed clocks in at 186mph (300km/h). Of course, the V58K isn't without its tuner elements, getting a new aerodynamics kit including a carbon fiber front lip spoiler, and a new stainless steel sport exhaust. Larger 19in wheels wrapped in 235/35 and 265/30 rubber adorn each corner, helping boost grip to match the prodigious power of the Vath roadster.
