One of the cars finished in this McLaren Orange has already been spotted on the production line in the car’s Woking factory in the UK, which you can see over at AutoTelegraaf. The McLaren Orange paint scheme, incidentally, first appeared on the M6A Can-Am race car in 1967, then the Formula One and Indy race cars that followed, and is synonymous with McLaren’s racing history. It was also the color used for the ultra-exclusive McLaren F1 LM. The very last SLR Roadster, however, will be finished in a unique Sienna Pearl metallic paint scheme and a Tobacco Brown leather interior. This particular car is destined for the U.S. and will be auctioned online on November 20 to help raise funds for the St Jude Children's Research Hospital. The Mercedes-McLaren SLR first entered production in Coupe form back in 2003 and was replaced with the Roadster model in 2007. Since the start of production more than 2,130 SLRs, both Coupe and Roadster, are estimated to have rolled off the factory floor. During that time there has also been a number of special edition models such as the high-performance 722 Edition, 722 GT race car, and the more recent Stirling Moss.2010 Mercedes-McLaren SLR Roadster 722 SMercedes Benz SLR 'Speedster' Stirling Moss leaked shots Read More

Tuning gone mad: Mercedes-McLaren SLR ‘999 Red Gold Dream’ edition If Batman were to have a change of career from fighting crime to becoming a playboy, this is the car he might be inclined to drive - the Ueli Anliker SLR 999 Red Gold Dream. As you can see, the tasteful owner that commissioned this piece had discretion and subtlety at the top of his list of priorities for every part of the car, right down to the 24k gold-coated wheels.

A raft of modifications have been made to the Mercedes-McLaren SLR to reach the 999 Red Gold Dream standard, and in total around 5 million Swiss francs (approximately $4.3 million) were poured into the car - a price that could net you a couple of Bugatti Veyrons with a big... A raft of modifications have been made to the Mercedes-McLaren SLR to reach the 999 Red Gold Dream standard, and in total around 5 million Swiss francs (approximately $4.3 million) were poured into the car - a price that could net you a couple of Bugatti Veyrons with a big chunk of change left over. The modifications consist of a new front spoiler, which looks like it came from the front end of a snow plough train, as well as numerous other aesthetic and aerodynamic modifications. There is also a giant rear wing, a custom rear diffuser and the aforementioned 24k gold-coated wheels. Gold plays a big part in this car, with all of the manufacturer logos replaced with solid gold replicas. Even the stunning red paint job features gold flecks in it, adding around 5kg to the car's weight from this aspect alone - in fact, pretty much anything on the car that appears shiny and gold is most likely pure 24k gold. The engine, too, has been modified, with a new exhaust system fitted to give the SLR 999 Red Gold Dream a snarl to match its outrageous appearance. While work on the car's engine hasn't been completed yet, the Swiss tuners from Ueli Anliker have big plans for the SLR '999' - namely to give it enough performance to match its name, or in other words, crack the 999hp (748kW) barrier.Ueli Anlike SLR 999 Red Gold Dream Read More
  • A FAB Design SLR supercar named Desire

A FAB Design SLR supercar named Desire Specialist Mercedes Benz tuner FAB Design has already taken on the controversial Maybach 57S limousine this year, but now the company has revealed its most astonishing work to date - this time on the Mercedes McLaren SLR supercar.

The most striking aspect of the FAB Design SLR 'Desire' at first would have to be its wild Batmobile-esque appearance at the front, as well as the extensive aerodynamic modifications at the rear and side. The redesigned body has been manufactured out of carbon-fiber, and certain parts of it remain unpainted to give onlookers a taste of what lies beneath the usual paint.

Specialist Mercedes Benz tuner FAB Design has already taken on the controversial Maybach 57S limousine this year, but now the company has revealed its most astonishing work to date - this time on the Mercedes McLaren SLR supercar. Apart from the front and rear fenders, it also comprises new side skirts with special recesses for the custom high-performance sports exhaust system whose six - yes, six - exhaust pipes come out on the vehicle's sides as is the case with the standard SLR. The completely redesigned front apron as well as the reshaped bonnet, which is adapted to the style of the new front and to the wider fenders, also helps complete the look. At the rear, a completely redesigned rear panel houses a huge diffuser that helps improve underbody downforce in conjunction with a giant rear wing spoiler. According to FAB Design, this results in significantly improved driving dynamics, and when coupled with other upgrades such as an improved suspension system and sports tires the SLR Desire should prove to be more agile than its standard counterpart. Finally, the 'piece de resistance' of the entire vehicle would have to lay under the hood. Thanks to extensive modifications of the engine, the FAB Design powertrain now generates 750hp instead of the standard SLR's 626hp. The maximum torque has been increased from 780Nm to 1,080Nm. The result is that the new SLR "Desire" reaches a regulated top speed of 192mph (310 km/h) and passes the 62mph (100km/h) mark in just 3.6 seconds. The production run for the car has been limited to 15 units, and despite only being shown at last month's Geneva Motor Show the entire run has already been sold out.FAB Design Mercedes-McLaren SLR 'Desire' Read More
  • ASMA releases 'Perfectus' Mercedes-McLaren SLR

ASMA releases 'Perfectus' Mercedes-McLaren SLR Production of the Mercedes-McLaren SLR supercar may soon be coming to an end but that appears to have no affect on the number of modified versions of the car being released by the world’s big-name aftermarket tuners. Late last year we saw the introduction of the Hamann Volcano, and then on Friday we saw Renntech its new SLR 777 package. Now, Germany’s ASMA Design has revealed its new Perfectus SLR, which was developed originally for the Royal Family of Abu Dhabi.

Late last year we saw the introduction of the Hamann Volcano, and then on Friday we saw Renntech its new SLR 777 package. Now, Germany’s ASMA Design has revealed its new Perfectus SLR, which was developed originally for the Royal Family of Abu Dhabi. Highlighting the upgrade is the car’s brazen bodykit, which consists of an imposing new grille and front bumper combination, new side sills and extended rear fenders, a subtle boot lip spoiler, and a new bumper with an integrated rear diffuser. Under the hood sits the venerable 5.5L supercharged V8 engine, only power has been boosted to a healthy 700hp (522kW). Torque has also been lifted to 630lb-ft (855Nm). The end result is a 0-100km/h sprint time of just 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 350km/h – 10km/h more than the already extreme SLR 722. Modifications to the powertrain include an uprated supercharger, a high-flow catalytic converter, new ASMA racing mufflers, and a retuned ECU. Pricing is set at €1 million.ASMA Design Perfectus Mercedes McLaren SLR Read More
  • Renntech declares 'Horsepower War' ongoing with new SLR 777

Renntech declares 'Horsepower War' ongoing with new SLR 777 Mercedes-Benz's AMG arm has declared the horsepower war over two years in a row, all the while continuing to turn out new and improved - and more powerful - cars. Renntech has taken its cues from the spirit, if not the letter, of AMG's announcements with its latest modification, boosting the SLR supercar's output to a massive 777hp (580kW).

Going a step beyond even its own previous SLR 722 package, the new Renntech 777 is the result of founder Hartmut Feyhl's relentless pursuit of more: more performance, more power, more impressive looks.

Mercedes-Benz's AMG arm has declared the horsepower war over two years in a row, all the while continuing to turn out new and improved - and more powerful - cars. On the other hand, Feyhl also describes the car as having the much-needed less when it comes to weight. "This 777 concept is really an all-new car that makes use of the advanced carbon fiber chassis of the SLR McLaren. It can be described as a street-legal track car, or something closer to what the enthusiasts were hoping for from the SLR, originally - which is more a successor to the McLaren F1." In addition to lightweight bodywork, the 777 also features an upgraded cooling system to help cope with the demands of the supercharged 5.5L engine under heavy track use. The company also fitted a special limited-slip differential, custom built for the application by OS Giken of Japan. The new diff offers 100% locking of the drive wheels, helping to keep the power down. Sticky Nitto NT-05 street/performance tires keep things road-legal while providing high levels of grip, working with the redesigned suspension for ideal performance. This isn't likely to be the last such car from Renntech either. "The first example is being built now, and will be ready this Spring. We intend to build a few different extreme vehicles like this for our 20th anniversary, with each one being strictly limited to 20 units. They are all very exciting projects, and we will be announcing them throughout the year, as they approach completion," said Feyhl.Renntech 777 Mercedes McLaren SLR Read More

With Mercedes’ next generation of super sports cars currently under development by the carmaker’s racing arm, HWA, as well as its in-house tuner, AMG, the current manufacturing partnership with McLaren is set to end once production of the SLR supercar concludes next year. To mark the occasion, Mercedes and McLaren will release a highly modified SLR that will be produced in a limited run of just 75 cars. The latest version is called the SLR Stirling Moss and it differs significantly from the current model on which it’s based. The most striking feature is its open-top design, which incorporates a roofless design with no windshield and vertical lifting doors. The design appears similar to the previous C16 Speedster based on the Corvette from Callaway, which was revealed last year. Stirling Moss, incidentally, was a legendary British race car driver who won his first F1 GP in a Mercedes, and was also the driver who won the 1955 Mille Miglia in record time behind the wheel of a 300 SLR. Power from the car’s supercharged 5.5L V8 engine remains at a heady 650hp (478kW) and propels the open-top racer from 0-100km/h in just 3.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 350km/h – 13km/h faster than the SLR 722 model. Adding to the performance is a lighter kerb weight, which could be more than 300kg lighter than the standard model. The weight saving will come from increased use of carbon-fiber for the body, new carbon-ceramic brakes and a new exhaust system. The special edition model will cost exactly €750,000 (before taxes) and it will make its world debut next month at the Detroit Auto Show, where more information, including availability details, will be released.Mercedes Benz SLR 'Speedster' Stirling Moss leaked shotsMercedes McLaren SLR Stirling Moss Edition Read More
