Common to all three models is Seat’s new family face, which the carmaker will also apply to its Leon hatch next year. Expected to be unveiled at next year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the facelifted Leon will likely pick up a new set of bumpers, revised head and taillights, and a slightly updated interior. The technology underneath the new sheet-metal should remain largely untouched, although several updated Volkswagen Group engines may be offered with the new model. Expect to see the current lineup carry over, however, with the same four-cylinder petrol engines delivering between 85 and 240hp, plus the same 90, 105, 140 and 170hp diesel offerings.2010 Seat Leon facelift Read More

The latest model continues the ‘Arrow Design’ first seen on the Bocanegra Concept, but also receives a newly designed bumper with air intake vents surrounding the central grille. Other unique features are the 17in alloy wheels, pumped fenders, and a centrally placed trapezoid tailpipe.

Under the hood sits a brand-new version of the Volkswagen Group’s 1.4L TSI engine. This should ensure it will be able to keep up with similar sporty hatches such as the Ford Focus ST and Renault Clio Sport. The car also features Seat’s ‘Agile Chassis’ system, which tweaks the response of the steering, brakes and transmission depending on conditions. This is combined with an uprated suspension set-up. Safety features include standard ESP, ABS and traction control, driver and passenger airbags, hill-hold function, and supportive bucket seats plus aluminium pedals. The new Cupra will make its official debut at October’s Paris Motor Show before going on sale by the end of the year.Seat Ibiza Cupra Read More
  • Seat Ibiza goes green with new Ecomotive model

Seat Ibiza goes green with new Ecomotive model The previous generation Ibiza Ecomotive is already regarded as one of the most ecological cars in the small hatch segment, but Seat has set out to improve on this with the launch of the second-generation model based on the new 2009 Ibiza.

Available in both the five-door and SportCoupe versions, the Ibiza Ecomotive is equipped with an 80hp (60kW) 1.4L TDI engine with a diesel particulate filter, which not only allows the engine to reduce CO2 emissions under the 100g/km mark, but also reduces fuel consumption. Expect to see similar results to the previous generation Ibiza Ecomotive, meaning fuel consumption should come in at around 74mpg... The increase in fuel efficiency compared with the already-frugal Ibiza 1.4L TDI, on which the new Ecomotive is based, is thanks to a number of careful enhancements. These include a reprogrammed ECU, longer gear ratios, low rolling resistance 14in tires, and improved aerodynamics. Joining the Ibiza Ecomotive on Seat’s stands at the upcoming Paris event will be the new Cupra performance model. Both cars will be manufactured exclusively at Seat’s plant in Martorell near Barcelona, and should arrive in showrooms before the end of the year.Seat Ibiza Ecomotive Read More

April brings the Altea and its variants, plus the new Leon. The Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009 will play host to the new Cupra hatch, based on the Bocanegra Concept (pictured) that lit anticipation in March. That stunning design combines a 1.4L twin-turbo TSI engine with a seven-speed DSG gearbox sourced from its parent company VW. The Ibiza that is based on it is expected to be available in three and five-door variants and will sport a range of engines including 1.2L and 1.4L petrol and diesel units. The FR will get a 150hp (112kW) 1.4L turbo engine, while the Cupra will get a 1.8L turbo presumably good for even more power. No solid details have yet emerged on the upcoming SUV, but it will be out in 2010 along with the Ibiza Sportback. Seat Bocanegra Concept Via: World Car FansSeat Bocanegra Concept Read More
