Elite unveils hardcore, lightweight LMV/R Aston Martin Vantage There's no shortage of customized or modified Aston Martins, Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Porsches, but few go as all-out toward pure, unadulterated speed as the Elite LMV/R. Comparing its creation to Lamborghini's Superleggera cars or Ferrari's Scuderia and Stradale offerings, the Elite LMV/R, based on Aston Martin's Vantage, promises real performance through extensive modification.

Named for Aston's history at Le Mans (the LMV/R stands for Le Mans Vintage Racer), the car is clearly aspiring toward streetable trackworthiness. The main change is a complete carbon fiber body kit, including front and rear bumper covers, canards, splitter, side skirts, 2in wider front and rear fenders, rear quarter panel extensions, trunk lid, rear wing and rear diffuser. That's a lot of carbon fiber - but it doesn't stop there. Inside the engine bay and cockpit there's a full carbon fiber appearance treatment as well. Alcantara upholstery gives a sporting appearance where carbon fiber isn't appropriate, and a serial numbered plaque marks each LMV/R as one of just 30 very special Aston Martins. Further performance enhancements are made with lowering springs, a big brake kit, revised exhaust system, and 20in wheels and tires to match the wider body kit. The LMV/R will be assembled in Florida at Elite's workshop, based on the 2010 Aston Martin Vantage. Pricing for the exclusive, hardcore Vantage starts at $173,000, though customization and additional options from Elite and Aston Martin can drive the package price higher. Cars can be purchased through Elite's exclusive distributor, Exotica Motorsports. Read More

This symbol is also found on the winding crown and push pieces. Key features of the new Lap-Time chronograph include an engraved case, small tachometer markings, three different time zones, and Scuderia Ferrari embossing. The similarity between precision timepieces and supercars is remarkable as both are expensive, desirable and extremely capable in their respective functions - thus the marriage between the Lap-Time chronograph and Italian supercar manufacturer Ferrari to construct the new watch seems to be an obvious one. Pricing starts at €295 (approximately $420).Ferrari Lap-Time chronograph Read More

Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M completes Goodwood Hillclimb in 59 seconds Ferrari showcased three of its latest supercars in the Sunday Times Supercar Runs at this past weekend's Goodwood Festival of Speed (FoS), with cars like the new California, 599 GTB Fiorano HGTE and the limited edition Scuderia Spider 16M all making an appearance. Cars race along a tree-lined avenue and turn to pass in front of Goodwood House, before climbing a steep and narrow estate road past flint walls and dense woodland groves, heading towards Goodwood's equine racecourse. One of the fastest cars of this year's event was the Scuderia Spider 16M, which completed the course in an incredible time of 59 seconds. The official record for the hillclimb was set in 1999 when Nick Heidfeld drove a McLaren MP4/13 F1 car up the hill in 41.6 seconds. For safety reasons F1 cars are no longer allowed to do official timed runs, and will often focus on demonstrations that are spectacular rather than fast. In 2006 Heikki Kovalainen completed the course in a Renault R25 F1 car and was unofficially timed below 40 seconds.Ferrari F430 Scuderia Spider 16M Read More

Spy shots: Ferrari working on 599 Scuderia? Ferrari has already shown off a new ‘Laboratorio Technologico’ 599XX experimental car based on the regular 599 GTB Fiorano, which was designed as a test-bed for future technologies and available only to a select group of client drivers. While that model showcases Ferrari’s racing technology and is designed exclusively for the track, a new 599 prototype caught testing on public roads in Europe suggests there could be another ‘tamer’ version of the stunning GT in the works.

This prototype, sporting a similar exhaust pipe design to the F430 Scuderia and a very different sound to the standard 599, suggests that the new model could be a more hardcore version built along the same lines as the F430 Scuderia. Ferrari’s 599 has been on sale since 2006 so the introduction of a special edition could help to build excitement in the model line considering sales are starting to dip. However, there is also the possibility that this prototype could just be an engine test-mule for a new V12 design. Earlier this week we saw the first spy shots of a test-mule for the 612 Scaglietti’s replacement, and this car is also expected to feature a brand new V12 design.2009 Ferrari 599XX conceptFerrari 599 GTB Fiorano prototype spy shots Read More

Ferrari and Panerai team up again for Scuderia range of watches At the end of last year famed Italian watch company Panerai released a special 'Ferrari California Flyback Chronograph' to commemorate the launch of the new Ferrari California convertible. Now, the exclusive watch company’s Ferrari Scuderia collection has been expanded by two new models: the Ferrari Chronograph Red Dial and the Ferrari Chronograph Yellow Dial.

Sporting a polished steel case with brushed steel edges, both watches feature two screw-down chronograph push pieces and a crown with rims worked in a square grid pattern - a deliberate reference to details from the dashboard controls of Ferrari models. Other links with the cars include a tachometer scale for calculating average speeds, as well as the Prancing Horse engraved on the caseback, the winding crown, and the dial. Since Ferrari interiors are usually swathed in leather, the watch also features black calfskin leather for the straps, with red alligator skin for the inner layer. Technically, both variants of the watch are the same between the Red Dial and the Yellow Dial, except of course for the 'Modena' yellow replacing the signature Maranello House of Red in the various colored elements of the dial and strap. The watches from the Scuderia collection, like the brand new Chronograph Red Dial and Chronograph Yellow Dial, differ in both concept and look from those in the popular Granturismo series. Nevertheless, the same painstaking craftsmanship is put into the watches, just as Ferrari puts into its automobiles, and the price reflects this - expect to pay around $8,000 - $10,000 for the privilege of owning one. • Ferrari F430 Scuderia ready for GT3 competition

Ferrari F430 Scuderia ready for GT3 competition This year's FIA GT3 European Championship will have a new competitor in the form of the Ferrari F430 Scuderia GT3. The car will be a successor to the standard Ferrari F430 GT3, which managed to win the GT3 championship in 2007. While this in itself is nothing special, what’s interesting is the fact that Ferrari’s F430 Scuderia in stock form is essentially a watered-down race car built for the street. This means that Switzerland’s Kessel Racing, which has prepared the new F430 Scuderia GT3, would have had little trouble building the new race car package.

Currently, three racing teams are planning on using the new Ferrari to race in, including Kessel Racing, JMB Racing and CRS Racing. While the car has not yet been officially approved by the FIA to compete in the European GT3 category, the car is expected to get its homologation form before a planned debut at the Silverstone race on May 3. The FIA's GT3 Championship is a fairly new event, having only begun in 2006 as a support race for the FIA GT Championship. The GT3 Championship differs from other events in that manufacturers are not allowed to develop their car throughout the racing season, and the race cars themselves are closer to their road car origins than in other events. Additionally, the GT3 class is reserved for what the FIA calls 'gentleman drivers', or racing drivers who are non-professionals, and the manufacturer's role in the races is simply to sell the cars and parts to racing teams without attempting to get too hands on. Currently, the races are filled with a large amount of European exotica, including entrants from Ascari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Porsche and Jaguar, among others.Ferrari 430 ScuderiaFerrari F430 Scuderia Spider 16MKessel Racing Ferrari F430 Scuderia GT3 race car Read More
