Along with the supercharger, Roush engineers also add forged aluminum pistons, a forged steel crankshaft and new fuel rails and injectors. The range-topping model is the Stage 3 Mustang, which Roush will be limited to just 103 units for 2010. The Stage 3 package features a upper billet grille, a full bodykit, four-piston calipers biting 14-inch brake discs and 18-inch chrome wheels as standard (20-inch wheels are optional). Inside, designers have also gone over the top with full leather seats featuring the embroidered signature of Jack Roush, illuminated skid plates, a short-throw shifter and custom badging. Pricing for the Stage 3 kit starts at $59,945. One of the performance bargains of the year would have to be the 540RH package, which gets the same potent powertrain as the Stage 3 Mustang but is priced from $46,145. Other elements include a new suspension package, rear spoiler and a short-throw shifter. Read More

More details on Roush's upgrades for the 2010 Ford Mustang Famous Ford tuner Roush recently took the covers off the latest incarnation of its longstanding 427R package for the Ford Mustang, and today a new round of details - but no photos - of the upcoming Stage 1 and Stage 2 cars are out. Beating many other big name tuners to the table, Roush is offering one of the first performance upgrades for the new 2010 Ford Mustang.

Beating many other big name tuners to the table, Roush is offering one of the first performance upgrades for the new 2010 Ford Mustang. The Stage 1 and Stage 2 cars are essentially bolt-on upgrade packages, with Stage 1 starting out with the basics: a full body kit upgrade, 18in wheels and sticky tires, new headlights, custom badges and a stripe kit. A wide range of interior kit can also be fitted at Stage 1, including short shifters sill plates and more. Also available optionally are exhaust, lowering kit and a big brake upgrade. Pricing starts at $5,952. Stage 2 steps up the Stage 1 package with the addition of a Roush custom suspension and wheel-hop kit. Better launches and twisty-road handling are the result. The same optional upgrades for Stage 1 cars are also available for Stage 2. The Stage 2 kit starts at $7,326. Roush revealed last month that its range-topping 427R Mustang will be the first to feature the company’s new ROUSHcharger supercharger. This boosts power of the Mustang’s 4.6L V8 engine to a healthy 435hp (325kW) and 400 lb-ft (542Nm) of torque. This is also the first time Roush has been able to offer a supercharged vehicle at the launch of a new body style. Under the hood customers will see many differences in the 2010 427R Mustang compared to previous years. One of the biggest changes is that the long air induction tube that wrapped around the engine was eliminated making a much cleaner overall appearance. The intercooler reservoir has more than twice the volume of previous generations, and the intercooler itself is a single core cross-flow radiator which means more efficient cooling. It’s also substantially larger than on prior model years, and is now raised higher off the ground which should offer much less potential for road debris damage. Although much of the car’s V8 powertrain components are a carryover from that used on the 2005-2009 Roush Mustangs, the appearance and the quality of the modifications are claimed to be greatly superior. Changes to the regular Mustang’s exterior include a new front fascia and front splitter, rear fascia, side splitters, and a three-piece rear wing. The vehicle rides on 18in chrome wheels with high-performance Cooper Zeon tires. Bigger 20in wheels are an option. Finally, the 427R also gets the Roush-engineered suspension kit and wheel hop reduction package. Pricing for the 427R upgrades starts at $14,156.2010 Ford MustangRoush 427R 2010 Ford Mustang2010 Roush Mustang teaser video Read More
  • Roush updates P-51-themed Mustang for 2009

Roush updates P-51-themed Mustang for 2009 Last year's SEMA show brought a creation inspired by a P-51 fighter plane from Roush, and though this year's show just ended last week, Roush is building a new incarnation of the fighter-car for 2009. Dubbed the P-51B, the car is an evolution of the concept, gaining a few upgrades, but maintaining the look and feel of the previous car.

The primary upgrades for the 2009 model-year P-51B include a 2009 Mustang chassis, Roush six-piston brakes, black chrome wheels, and a vent-pod gauge that reads the boost put out by the supercharger. Speaking of forced induction, the same 4.6L V8 and blower are fitted to the new car, generating 510hp (380kW)... Speaking of forced induction, the same 4.6L V8 and blower are fitted to the new car, generating 510hp (380kW) and 510lb-ft (690Nm) of torque. The pistons get more dish, however, to lower compression from 9.8 to 8.6, so the boost has no doubt been upped to compensate. To deliver all the fuel necessary to crank out that much power, an upgrade delivery system has been installed. Putting that much power to the ground requires beefy components, so the clutch also gets an upgrade, while the big black chrome wheels get Cooper RS3 ultra-high performance street tires to help deliver grip. A Roush Stage 3 suspension helps the big car hold the road, and a custom fighter-plane treatment in Olive Drab green gives the car the right look. Cosmetic accents include a rear decklid blackout panel, a P-51B logo on the shifter ball, seats and floor mats, and a six-piece Roush body kit for the aeronautical flavor the car needs. The P-51B is a limited edition car, with just 51 units to roll out as 2009 model-year cars, though like other Roush creations, expect more to come off the line as 2010 models. "The 2009 ROUSH P-51B is really the closest thing we can do to truly match the performance and styling of the fighter plane," said Jack Roush. "Just like the airplane, the P-51B Mustang has the power to outrun most anything, can turn like virtually nothing else, and will make those other 'pilots' have second thoughts before engaging in a skirmish." Since their nearly-simultaneous inception, cars and airplanes have had something of a love-hate relationship, at times challenging each other in races or other showdowns, but at others borrowing styling and themes across enemy lines. Saab's entire lineup purports to be 'born from jets', Subaru made an ill-fated attempt to draw on its aeronautical heritage with a family-wide grille design (now defunct), and the Lamborghini Reventon has made a famous venture into fighter-jet territory.Roush P-51B Mustang Read More

Superformance and Roush unveil 567hp Shelby Mustang replica Superformance, manufacturer of Shelby Cobra replica kit cars, has teamed up with Roush, another household name in Ford performance upgrades, to create a special edition Cobra kit car pumping out 576hp (429kW). The Superformance MKIII was specially built for last year's SEMA event, and is usually sold as a rolling chassis - without an engine or transmission - however Roush has dumped its 427 IR engine into the lightweight roadster, and the entire car is being sold as an upgrade for the standard MKIII chassis.

The Superformance MKIII with Roush's 427ci (7.0L) V8 weighs around 2,600lbs (1,180kg) and is an exact replica of the iconic Shelby Cobra in terms of dimensions and aesthetics. In addition to the MKIII's standard features, the new collaboration with Roush means that this limited-edition Superformance MKIII gets Roush emblems and a custom Roush shifter knob, as well as Roush floor mats and Wind Wings. The MKIII also features custom Wilwood upgraded power-assisted vented disc brakes to match the performance of the formidable 427 IR crate engine, as well as custom sway bars and Bilstein shocks and H&R Springs to make the handling a little more predictable than the unforgiving Shelby Cobra of old. Fiberglass is used to construct the body, while the jig-Welded parallel ladder frame of heavy wall 2" x 4" (5cm x 10cm) rectangular steel tubing incorporates front and rear crumple zones for added safety. To maintain the authenticity of the replica, an old style steering wheel is also supplied, along with original style instruments specially manufactured by Smiths of England. Additionally, there are special Cobra seats featuring custom embroidery, black chrome trime, American Racing 18" (45cm) pin drive wheels and a unique paint job in bright red, complimented by silver stripes.Superperformance Roush MKIII Read More
