The shop itself features unique merchandise from Nissan and its NISMO motorsports division in the 5,381 square foot space, officially titled the Nissan Sportscars Shop on the new Ring Boulevard. One of the cars on display in the shop is the new 80-car limited-production Nurburgring Edition 370Z, painted a bright yellow with a special graphics treatment. The GT-R SpecV is also on display, and is so far the only place Europeans can see the car in person. Visitors to the Sportscar Shop can also purchase high-quality Nissan merchandise and its motor sports department NISMO, including rare items imported from Japan as well as scale models of cars. The Nissan Sportscars Shop is also slated to take on a more central role in many of the company’s marketing and sales activities. At the end of October 2009, for example, the company has planned an entire week full of action. The schedule includes a drift event at the Nürburgring, track days with the Nissan GT-R on the Nordschleife and a “tour of the senses”, a journey through the picturesque Eifel countryside surrounding the racetrack.Nissan Sportscars Shop at the Ring Read More

Based loosely on the Japanese market S-Tune model, the Nismo 370Z was developed in the U.S. in conjunction with Japanese tuner Autech. The car is offered in one completely equipped model (no options) with a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission and the SynchroRev Match function. The SynchroRev Match automatically controls and adjusts engine speed when shifting to the speed of the next gear position, essentially "blipping" the throttle to smooth out any up/down shifts. This not only allows the driver to focus more on braking and steering, it improves vehicle balance and smoothness by reducing the typical "shock" when the clutch is engaged. The system can be deactivated with a button next to the shifter for drivers who prefer less vehicle intervention. Peak power in the car arrives at a lofty 7,400rpm and torque of 276lb-ft (373Nm) of torque arrives at 5,200rpm. The extra oomph is courtesy of an exclusive H-configured exhaust system design and muffler tuning, along with an optimized ECU. To improve chassis, engineers added a stiffer strut tower bar brace and a pair of performance dampers. The standard double-wishbone and four-link suspension has also been specially tuned for improved stability and handling. Compared to the standard 370Z Coupe, front spring rates have been dialed up 15%, rear spring rates 10%, front stabilizer bar rate upped 15% and the rear stabilizer bar is 50% stiffer. The roll stiffness rate has been increased by 15% and front and rear damping factors have been increased by 40% and 140% respectively. Other features include large diameter 14.0in brakes with uprated four-piston aluminum calipers at the front and two-piston calipers in the rear. To set it apart from the standard model, the Nismo version has also been fitted with a full bodykit and bi-xenon headlights. Available color options include Pearl White, Brilliant Silver, Magnetic Black, Solid Red and Platinum Graphite. Inside, there are Nismo logos on the seats and tachometer, as well as a sports steering wheel with leather and red stitching, and aluminum trimmed pedals. The final addition is a serialized plaque located on the center console.2009 Nissan 370Z Coupe2009 Nissan Nismo 370Z Read More
  • Nismo to begin renting upgraded GT-R electronics to customers in Japan

Nismo to begin renting upgraded GT-R electronics to customers in Japan Earlier today we told you how Nissan is now offering to upgrade original-spec GT-Rs with a host of better parts including suspension upgrades and engine mounts. Now Nissan's racing and tuning arm, Nismo, has decided to release upgraded engine and transmission management software, but in a novel manner.

They're renting it. Yep, for ¥294,000 ($3,090) you get ECU and TCM modules for 24 months, but after that time, you'll have to either return the computer units or pay an additional ¥31,500 ($330) per year. It's a standalone package that can be added to any GT-R, including the SpecV (pictured).

But for that price you'll get better low end torque, higher max boost pressure and better low-end boost response, plus quicker downshifts and the speed limiter raised to 199mph (320km/h). Still, we have to question the choice of the rental model - though there's every possibility it's to get around some bizarre Japanese law - even if it does come at a relatively affordable price, given the GT-R's overall expense. But, oddities aside, combining this latest electronics upgrade kit with Nismo's previous upgrade offerings or even the standard Nissan upgrades announced earlier today ought to provide enough pep and reinvigoration to make those early-adopter GT-R fans feel almost like they have a new car. Heavy with carbon fiber and titanium, the list is - as the car's name suggests - a complete replacement of the main aerodynamic and performance elements of the car. Starting with the body kit, Zele has upgraded the 370Z Complete Edition to include: a new front aero bumper; carbon fiber front lip spoiler; redesigned rear bumper and side skirts; and a carbon fiber rear spoiler, B-pillar covers, radiator shroud and mirror covers. Titanium elements include a new shift knob, strut tower brace and a 'Type 2' muffler. The car's suspension is upgraded with an Aragosta kit and new brakes provide even more fade-resistant stopping power. RAYS Volk Racing TE37G2 alloy wheels finish off the exterior treatment with some lightweight and attractive equipment from one of the most prized makers of racing wheels. Inside, the car gets a pair of Recaro bucket seats upholstered with Alcantara. The Tokyo Auto Salon is a tuner event, similar to the SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas, and traditionally features a range of highly modified cars from all facets of the industry, including major carmakers, established tuners, and small start-ups. Zele also showed a preview of its Complete Edition GT-R at SEMA a few weeks back, and finally revealed it at the salon a week ago. Now that Zele's complete edition is out in the wild, armchair tuners the world over will be arguing its superiority or inferiority to Nissan's own Nismo-enhanced 370Z, which you can read about here.
