Straight out of the box the Mercedes Benz SL63 AMG is already one of the sportiest models in the luxury carmaker’s lineup, but the car’s heady 525hp (392kW) output was never going to satisfy the guys at German tuner Kicherer. Applying lessons learned from its previous K60 Evo, the tuner has upgraded the 6.2L V8 engine to the tune of 560hp (425kW) and 495lb-ft (670Nm) of torque, lifting performance of the SL63 into supercar territory.

The added performance sees Kicherer's latest SL60 Evo do the 0-100km/h sprint in just 4.3 seconds (0.3 seconds faster than the standard SL63), with 200km/h passing in 14.2 seconds and momentum... A fully integrated aerodynamic package gives off a menacing appearance, while being completely functional, and can be adapted to all current SL models. All additions are available in high-quality carbon-fiber, including the unique front apron that reduces lift on the front axle and allows for improved cooling of the engine. The wheels are ultra-light 20in RS-1 aluminum alloys. Up back sits a new rear diffuser housing sports exhaust tailpipes, shaded rear lights and a unique boot lid. Inside, Kicherer added an F1-style steering wheel with carbon gearshift paddles, additional instruments and extra carbon trim. Noted for its sleek, stylish and almost stealthy modifications of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, Kicherer occupies a special place in the German tuner scene. Apparently that place is very special, because it has released a new E-Class tuning program before the car has even been delivered to dealerships.

The new E-Class, which sneaked onto the scene at the Detroit Motor Show, won't be delivered to European customers until May, and America will have to wait until the third quarter, but Kicherer has already had their hands on one long enough to develop a whole range of accessories.

Some recent highlights include the SL63 Evo Edition and CLK63 Black Edition, and now the tuner has released a package for the luxurious CL65 AMG.

Aptly named the CL65 Coupe, the new package adds several subtle styling mods, both inside and out, as well as a range of engine and wheel and tire upgrades. Some of the pieces include a carbon-fiber front grill, mirror shells, a rear diffuser and... Under the bonnet sits a 650hp (484kW) and 885lb-ft (1,200Nm) version of the twin-turbo AMG V12. This is enough to push the big coupe to100km/h from rest in just 4.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 320km/h. Furthermore, the vehicle has been provided with a high-performance rear axle equipped with a differential lock and a modified transmission control module to handle the boosted power levels. The power is put to the ground via a set of handcrafted 20in Kicherer RS-X wheels, wrapped with 285mm rubber. The car’s suspension has also been lowered by 25mm and has been beefed up with stiffer springs and dampers. To match the performance mods, Kicherer adds several exterior pieces such as the new side skirts, revised bumpers, a modified grille and an integrated rear diffuser.
