Continuing in the tradition of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 'Italian Polizia' special is now a more practical - but still very quick - offering from Lexus to the British constabulary in the Humberside area, the Lexus IS-F super-sedan.

The new IS-F should make life for the baddies in Humberside ever more difficult, but while the local police have already taken delivery of one Lexus IS-F it’s uncertain if there will be a fleet of them to replace the current Subaru models that they have. The decision to take on the Lexus IS-F was not easy, according to an officer with the Humberside Police, because unlike Lamborghini's generous donations of Lamborghini Gallardos to the Italian police the Lexus IS-F was sold for its regular price. According to the Humberside Police, the Lexus was tested for 12 months alongside similar vehicles but proved to be the most capable of the lot, especially when it was asked to perform while carrying extra weight provided by close to £30,000 ($49,500) of on-board computers and communications equipment.     Report: Lexus IS F Convertible planned for early 2011 launch Despite there being no plans yet for an IS Coupe or a high-performance F version of the new IS C Convertible, officially, a new report has surfaced and claims that a Lexus IS F Convertible is in the works.

    Coupe and convertible versions of the IS-F would be welcome by fans, and it would also likely be met with strong sales, if BMW's experience is any gauge - the M3 Coupe and Convertible together outsell the sedan about 3:1. A sporty IS Convertible, in the form of the F-Sport, is already out there, but a super-performance drop-top could still find its own niche. After all, how many fans of the go-fast can seriously argue with a 5.0L V8...     Lexus bringing LF-A, IS-F race cars to Goodwood Festival of Speed For the true enthusiast, there are few events that satisfy as completely as the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Both concourse and racing event, Goodwood offers the best of both worlds in an environment steeped in history and tradition. Lexus will be taking advantage of this year's Festival to show off its LF-A supercar and a racing version of the IS-F, among other interesting treats.

    The Lexus LF-A will certainly be one of the main attractions with its 500hp V10 engine and endurance-racing credentials. The Lexus IS-F race car will not only be showing, it will be going - right up the hill climb course. The IS-F is also an endurance racing... For the true enthusiast, there are few events that satisfy as completely as the Goodwood Festival of Speed.     Report: Convertible Lexus IS-F greenlighted, soft-top SC possible Just two months ago the new 2010 Lexus IS Convertible went on sale in Japan, and with it came talk of a coupe version as well. That started rumors that Lexus could make IS-F versions of both, and a new report today confirms those plans.

    The report also includes hints of a possible soft-top variant of the Lexus SC. According to Car and Driver, inside sources at Lexus have revealed that the IS-F convertible will reach production by early 2011. The SC soft-top won't be available until the next gen-car arrives.

On the other hand, Lexus has previously said it hasn't decided if a convertible would sell well for them. "Right now, there are no plans for that," Toyota/Lexus PR spokesman Curt McAllister told Edmunds. "We're going to investigate how well the [standard IS C] convertible does and make a determination from there." If the IS-F convertible does come to life, expect it to be a technological doppelganger for the IS-F sedan, minus the rear doors. It's no surprise, then, the company has turned its hand to one of the most recent high-performance sedans to issue from Lexus, and the resulting restyle shows some characteristic Wald touches along with a flair unique to the IS-F.

    The IS-F kit offers a significantly more aggressive look for the IS-F owner not satisfied with the reserved yet muscular look Lexus imbued the car with at the factory, while the Black Bison kit goes one step further and adds even more aggression plus carbon-fiber finishes. The newly released detail photos give an up-close look not just at the brawny additions, but the material, fit and finish of the kit - all of which appear to be superb. Adding larger, more angular front intakes with a separate brake duct and a dual lower splitter, the front of the car looks much more purposefully fast than the stock car. A slightly wider side-sill treatment flows to the rear side skirts, which receive Wald's trademark shark-gill extractor vents behind the rear wheels. A custom diffuser under the rear end looks like more than just a pretty piece of molding, and coupled with the rear wing, should help improve down force at speed.     Ventross Lexus IS-F by Vorsteiner Vorsteiner is an American tuning firm that until now has specialized in modifying German performance cars from the likes of BMW, Mercedes Benz, and Porsche. The company has now established a subdivision called Ventross that will be focused on Japanese models, and its first order of business was to develop a new aero kit for the 2009 Lexus IS-F.

    The Ventross Lexus IS-F is modified with a sporty dry carbon fiber front chin spoiler. The spoiler features a center air channel that allows air to cool down the front brake system, while also increasing downforce. Meanwhile, the rear end of the vehicle features a lightweight dry carbon fiber boot... Also available in the Ventross package is a three-piece forged aluminum wheel set in 19 and 20in sizes. According to Vorsteiner, all the aero parts are manufactured with a carbon fiber honeycomb matrix (CFHM) structure. This gives them superior stiffness, strength and durability compared to traditional hand laid carbon fiber and fiberglass materials. While many of you will be familiar with Vorsteiner's work with European manufacturers, such as their take on the Porsche 911, the Mercedes CLK 63 AMG and the BMW M3, the new Ventross division will ensure that Japanese performance cars are given the same level of attention.
