Ford's role in supporting motorsports is well-known both on the drag strip and the road course, and the latest car from Hurst Performance is a limited-edition special for the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge. Based on a 2010 Ford Mustang Convertible, the BF Goodrich/Hurst 2010 Mustang Pace Car gets a custom Hurst supercharger that cranks output up to 435 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, huge 20-inch polished forged aluminum wheels with gold-painted center spokes, and BF Goodrich's grippy g-Force KDW tires. Taking advantage of the power and grip is a special handling package provided by Eibach with Hurst-tuned coil-over dampers and upgraded anti-roll bars. A Magnaflow custom exhaust ensures a brawny engine note. Inside, the cars get a gold Hurst T-handle shifter and custom white upholstery with gold and black "H" logos on the seats and floor mats. The convertible top is white, too. A special paint job also marks the car out as a limited edition, with painted gold racing stripes and official "Pace Car" logos over a white background. Only 50 of the cars will be built. Each gets a special commemorative plaque marking its number in the limited run. The trunk holds signatures from the Hurst team, and every buyer has the option to take delivery at Hurst's Performance Center in Irvine, California and to tour the facility. Pricing for the limited-edition BF Goodrich/Hurst 2010 Mustang Pace Car starts at $36,450 above the base price of a standard Mustang GT or Premium GT Convertible. First deliveries will begin in October. The original Pace Car, having finished its run with the e series, will now go to auction at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona in January, 2010. The proceeds of the auction will go to the Victory Junction Camp children's charity. Read More

The rebirth of the American muscle car was about as ill-timed as it could be given the industry's global meltdown in the past 12 months, but somehow General Motors’ new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro has managed to be a stellar performer--both on the track and in showrooms. Now, American performance workshop Hurst has announced that it will auction its first modified version of the Camaro prior to the 2009 SEMA Auto Show in November. Along with today’s announcement, Hurst has also released the first few tentative details for its new Camaro Performance Series along with this preview rendering. The first example will be finished almost completely in black, broken only by silver and red stripes. Other details include 20-inch forged aluminium T-2 wheels, a short-throw shifter, rear wing-spoiler, and unique badging. Performance modifications will include an Eibach suspension set-up, a high-flow Magnaflow stainless-steel exhaust and a K&N intake. Being built by Hurst, you can bet there will be some much more serious mods appearing on the car once it’s ready. The Hurst prepped Camaro will be auctioned on eBay Motors during the two weeks prior to the show. All proceeds are to benefit the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund, a program that fosters industry leadership by supporting the education of students pursuing careers in the automotive aftermarket. America's muscle car revival is alive and well despite the last year or so of economic mishaps; the Camaro, Mustang and Challenger are all on the street again. And with that muscular tide rises the ship of Hurst Performance Vehicles, which today unveiled its Series 4 Supercharged 2010 Hurst/Hemi Challenger sporting a revival of its classic silver and black with red accent color scheme. The new Challenger is also the first-ever Series 4 Vortech supercharged unit, meaning it has some serious 'go' to match its 'show' - though official figures haven't been released yet. The silver and black theme contrasts with the already-released gold-themed Hurst Challengers, which generate about 572 horsepower in Series 4 trim. Building on the already solid Challenger base, the series-numbered cars will come with red-anodized HARD-DRIVE pistol grip Hurst shifters, 20-inch one-piece forged aluminum Hurst wheels with polished lips and graphite gray spoke insets and red Hurst logo centers. An Air-Speed rear deck spoiler, Hurst/Eibach suspension, and Hurst/Magnaflow exhaust are intended to make the most of the car's looks and performance. Inside, the custom Hurst Challengers get black leather interior from Katzkin, plus red inserts, top-stitching and logos. A full complement of Hurst logos in the dash, grille, fender graphics and floor mats wraps up the package. [Hurst] Read More

Some of the modifications planned to transform the G8 to H.O. status include the usual slate of Hurst interior and exterior accessories, plus a re-worked suspension and a supercharger for the V8 under the hood. The Hurst G6 convertibles are designed to commemorate Hurst director emeritus Doc Watson's pace cars. They will be used as parade vehicles and special-event cars. "Doc started all of this with George back in 1960 with Hurst Performance Research. His Hurst H.O. Pontiacs have stormed drag strips and main streets across the country for 50 years," said Hurst Chairman, Nate Shelton. "There could not be a better time to honor Doc and the legendary Pontiac marque." The Hurst Pontiacs will be available for ordering starting August 1 at the Hurst Performance website. Read More

In addition to the power upgrade, the package also comes with a Hurst ‘Hard-Drive’ shifter, 20in polished and forged wheels, custom graphics and badges, Goodyear Eagle F-1 performance tires, a Magnaflow stainless steel cat-back exhaust system, a K&N air-filter, Eibach coil-over suspension and leather trim. For owners of the 6.1L Challenger SRT8, Hurst offers a Series 2 package that is listed at $17,450 and boosts output to 437hp (326kW) and 438lb-ft (593Nm) of torque. The rest of the package includes the same items as the Series R/T kit. Next in line is the Series 3 R/T 5.7L HEMI kit at $26,750. This boosts output to 444hp (331kW) and 489lb-ft (662Nm) of torque thanks to the addition of a Vortech supercharger installed at the factory. Adding this package to the 6.1L SRT8 brings up the Series 4 stage, which Hurst is offering at $25,150. Output is rated at 572hp (426kW) and 528lb-ft (715Nm) of torque. Rounding out the range is the Series 5 SRT8 6.1L package, which sells for $33,150 and features the same output as the Series 4 but gets a few additional goodies such as rear spoiler. Hurst is also planning a range of other modified Chrylser vehicles, including a Viper, 300C, Charger and Ram pickup. Already Saleen has introduced its line of aftermarket superchargers for the Challenger, and Dodge itself has said the 2009 model will feature a blower to boost power. The factory-special drag race package car is an example of what can be done when the factory gets involved in making a truly intense modified Challenger, but the Hurst model aims at a streetable, somewhat more tame, design.Dodge Challenger SRT8Hurst Challenger for SEMA Read More
