  • Hamann tunes the Rolls-Royce Phantom for more power, less class

Hamann tunes the Rolls-Royce Phantom for more power, less class German tuner Hamann is known for its work with a number of brands, including Porsche, Mercedes Benz, BMW and Fiat, but now the company has turned its attention to an unlikely candidate for tuning work - the Rolls-Royce Phantom.

The company is offering a number of upgrades for both the Phantom and the Phantom Drophead Coupe, but the power upgrades are likely the only one you would really want. The Phantom already develops close to 460hp (343kW) from its 6.75L engine, but Hamann can up this to a less stately figure of 535hp (399kW). Similarly, torque can be increased from the standard Phantom's 531lb-ft (720Nm) to a sportier 622lb-ft (834Nm),... The Phantom already develops close to 460hp (343kW) from its 6.75L engine, but Hamann can up this to a less stately figure of 535hp (399kW). Similarly, torque can be increased from the standard Phantom's 531lb-ft (720Nm) to a sportier 622lb-ft (834Nm), and the result of this engine work is a new top speed of close to 190mph. While the merits of upping the horsepower figures for a car that’s definitely more focused on the passengers in the back rather than the driver up the front may appear dubious, Hamann figures that if certain customers want more power, they'll also want a sportier look. For this, the German tuner is offering a couple of different sets of wheel packages, including a black set and an aluminum multispoke set. Both wheel options come in a massive 23in setting, beating out the standard Phantom's 21in set. Finally, to cap off the madness, Hamann will also throw in a sports steering wheel up front, but thankfully the rest of the interior remains fairly standard. Pricing hasn't yet been announced, but expect it to be horribly expensive in line with the asking price of the Phantom.Hamann Rolls-Royce Phantom and Phantom Drophead Coupe Read More

Hamann adds BMW 7-series to arsenal German tuner Hamann usually specializes in tuning exotic sports cars but occasionally the firm lends its expertise to more sedate segments in the car world. Now, Hamann has announced a tuning package for a car that fits into the latter, the 2009 BMW 7-series luxury saloon.

Hamann has been working closely with BMW since 1986, but this relationship has mostly surrounded the carmaker’s motorsports efforts. The competence gained there, however, can still be applied to non sports models, which we can see clearly in the latest modified 7-series. Hamann has been working closely with BMW since 1986, but this relationship has mostly surrounded the carmaker’s motorsports efforts. The competence gained there, however, can still be applied to non sports models, which we can see clearly in the latest modified 7-series. There are some obvious aesthetic modifications to the exterior of the car, including custom side skirts, a rear spoiler on the boot and custom tailpipes. Joining the new body alterations is a set of 22in Evo wheels, which are attached to a performance suspension kit that sits up to 40mm lower than the stock model. The interior has also been given an upgrade, with new aluminum sports pedals and custom seats and floormats bearing the Hamann logo. In terms of power upgrades, Hamann has thus far only tinkered with the diesel-powered 730d, boosting output of the 245hp (180kW) stock engine by 45hp (33kW). No word has been given about what other mechanical modifications are to come, but there are predictions that Hamann will also upgrade the engine found in the current 750i model - the 4.4L twin-turbo V8 unit – as well as the new 760i V12. Nevertheless, the Hamann tuned 750i should be a cracker in terms of performance, as the tuning firm is not known for its restraint in this area. The previous iteration of a Hamann-tuned BMW 7-series V8 featured a bored out 7.1L engine with 510hp (383kW) and a top speed just a few miles shy of 200mph. Until more details are announced, however, we can only speculate on what the tuner has in store for the rest of the 7-series lineup.BMW 7-series by Hamann Read More

Larger air inlets in connection with integrated daytime running lights give the Bentley an even more dynamic face. Additionally, the newly designed front optimizes the air flow and reduces the lifting forces at the front axle. Extensions at the front and rear wings broaden the Imperator by 70mm and give the car a more aggressive look. The kit also includes new side skirts, a rear spoiler and integrated rear diffuser. Completing the look is 22in aluminum wheels finished in black and connected to special chassis springs that lower the center of gravity of the Continental GT by 30mm at the front and 20 at the rear axle. As you would expect for a vehicle with a name like Imperator, Hamann has lifted performance of the already impressive twin-turbocharged W12 engine by 40hp (29kW) and 90Nm. Peak output now stands at 640hp (470kW) and 840Nm of torque, which allows the car to travel to a new top speed of 331km/h. Modifications to the powertrain include a sports exhaust system and retuned ECU. At the customer’s request, Hamann will also dress up the interior, adding a newly designed three-spoke sports steering wheel, black piano dash highlights and leather or ultra-suede trim.Hamann Imperator Bentley Continental GT Speed Read More
  • Hamann Tycoon BMW X6 widebody kit

Hamann Tycoon BMW X6 widebody kit Late in 2008 Hamann revealed its plans for the BMW X6, including a range of performance and appearance upgrades. Today the tuning house expands that range with a new Tycoon widebody kit for the 'sports activity coupe'.

Building on the foundation of Hamann's earlier X6 modificaitions, including power upgrades to the xDrive30d and xDrive35d diesel engines as well as the big and powerful xDrive50i petrol V8. Rated at 261hp (195kW) and 315hp (235kW) for the diesel models, respectively, Hamann has not yet disclosed the power upgrade for the xDrive50i, though building on the already-potent 400hp (298kW) twin-turbo V8 ensures it will be a beast.

The key new upgrades for the Tycoon variant, however, relate to the widebody kit, which extends the car's horizontal width by 2.36in (60mm). That extra width comes via wider fender flares, and an updated front fascia and side skirt kit help accentuate the new, wide stance. LED daytime running lights also add a unique touch, while the rear of the vehicle gets a new diffuser and roof spoiler. Alloy wheels in 23in 'XXL format' fills the gaping arches to the brim, and the wide lip further emphasizes the widebody design. A 40mm lowering kit, wide low-profile tires and reworked suspension ensure the big vehicle makes good use of the new-found width and stability. Extensive carbon fiber trim and Hamann-branded accents both inside and out finish off the Tycoon treatment. Hamann announces upgrade program for Bentley Continental GT and GT Speed German tuner and custom coachbuilder Hamann is perhaps best known for its work with BMW's machines, but now it has unveiled its plans for an upgrade program for the Bentley Continental GT and GT Speed.

Full details of the upgrade kit are yet to be revealed, but so far Hamann has released these four photos and a promise that more will come soon. From the photos we can see an upgraded aero kit along the lower edge of the car including dramatic intake scoops below the headlights, a lowering job which suggests re-tuned springs and dampers for improved handling, plus new custom alloy wheels in the 22in+ range featuring black spokes and a polished lip. Expect power upgrades to go along with the aerodynamic and handling modifications, though with the GT Speed already generating a heady 600bhp (441kW) and 750Nm (553ft-lb) of torque, adding to those figures will require some special work. The Continental GT line is no stranger to modification, however, so there is potential for more to be done. Inside, the modded Bentleys get a custom leather and white carbon fiber treatment to replace the typical wood accents. Hamann logos and special red piping complement the various interior elements as well, though whether it comes off as an upgrade to the already opulent original interior will remain to be seen in high-resolution photos.Hamann Bentley Continental GT and GT Speed upgrades Read More
