Edo Competition, famed for taking on some of the most ambitious tuning projects on some of the world's most exclusive cars, is back at it today with the announcement of new upgrades for the Mercedes Benz C63 AMG that make the car even more insane than before. It's often said that the engineers at AMG have an unhealthy obsession with horsepower, but they can't really hold a candle to Edo's engineers. For Edo, the verdict was unanimous: 457hp and 600Nm is not enough. In order to set the C63 AMG right, Edo has installed a number of modifications including a newly developed high-performance exhaust system, exhaust headers, high-flow catalytic converters, new air filters and a recalibrated ECU that conveniently dispenses with the pesky speed limiter. The result of all these engine upgrades is a boost of almost 100hp to the standard C63 AMG's output, giving it a grand total of 555hp and 501lb-ft of torque. All that power helps push the Edo-prepped C63 AMG to a top speed of 199mph and will also take the super-sedan from standstill to 62mph in just 4.3 seconds. Additionally, the new exhaust system features butterfly valves to make sure the car has a bark to match its bite. Finally, a set of lightweight 19-inch wheels is also on offer, shod in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires that Edo claim should be able to handle the extra grip required from all that extra horsepower - although you'll still probably see the traction control light flickering constantly. • Edo Competition tunes the Ferrari Enzo - again

Edo Competition tunes the Ferrari Enzo - again For the few out there who may not have heard of Edo Competition, suffice to say that even in the mad world of tuning the firm is looked upon as the sort of company who occasionally may take things a little too far - such as its modifications to the ultra-rare track-only Ferrari FXX development vehicle to make it road-legal in Germany. Other such shenanigans include tuning the Maserati MC12 to a blistering top speed of 231mph and bumping the Ferrari Enzo's power up to an impressive 700hp (522kW).

For the few out there who may not have heard of Edo Competition, suffice to say that even in the mad world of tuning the firm is looked upon as the sort of company who occasionally may take things a little too far - such as its modifications to the ultra-rare track-only Ferrari FXX development vehicle to make it road-legal in Germany. Other such shenanigans include tuning the Maserati MC12 to a blistering top speed of 231mph and bumping the Ferrari Enzo's power up to an impressive 700hp (522kW). It's this last project with the Ferrari Enzo that sees us doing yet another story on Edo Competition, because apparently increasing the power in one of the world's fastest cars to 700hp (522kW) is still not quite enough for Edo, especially when it has just figured out a way to increase that figure to 800hp (648kW). This magical figure is achieved by extensively modifying the Enzo to increase power by almost 150hp (112kW) from the standard car's 650hp (485kW) figure. New steel cylinders and pistons, used similarly in the Ferrari FXX, make an appearance, along with new camshafts, valve springs, connecting rods, piston pipes exhaust manifolds and a high-flow catalytic converter. Along with a new air-filter, fuel cooling system, clutch, bearings, oil pump and gaskets, the modification list is extensive and, by extension, very expensive as well. But for your money you will get some fairly impressive features - including a top speed of over 236mph, and the ability to sprint from standstill to 186mph in just 19 seconds. To put that in perspective, the Mercedes-Mclaren SLR will take around 30 seconds to hit 186mph, while the 1,001hp (746kW) Bugatti Veyron is just a couple of seconds quicker than the Edo-prepped Enzo.Edo Competition Ferrari Enzo XX Read More

edo Competition unveils custom 500hp Ferrari California Unless you live in Maranello, it's not every day that you see a Ferrari on the street, much less a heavily tuned and modified one, but the carefully created black-on-black and tan Ferrari California from edo Competition makes us wish it were a more common event.

A full 500hp (367kW) and 369lb-ft (500Nm) of torque are on tap from the re-tuned V8. The engine breathes a bit easier than stock as well thanks to a custom exhaust and high-flow catalytic converters.

That much power delivers Corvette ZR1-like performance of 196mph (315km/h) top speed and 3.9-second 0-62mph (100km/h) runs. All with Ferrari style and comfort. That's a hard package to... • Bentley Continental GT goes under edo's knife

Bentley Continental GT goes under edo's knife It's not often that an aftermarket tuner and the OEM they're working on end up chasing the same goal, but in the case of Bentley's brand-new Supersports and edo's Speed GT, it's happened. Setting the goal of building Bentley's fastest GT ever, both came to very similar conclusions, using the Continental GT as their base.

There are some important differences, however. Bentley decided to use a flex-fuel engine capable of running on ethanol-based biofuels, but edo left the 6.0L W12 to a dino-juice only diet. Power output reflects the choice, with the edo car tuned to an intense 680hp (507kW) and 649lb-ft (880Nm) of torque. The Bentsley... Power output reflects the choice, with the edo car tuned to an intense 680hp (507kW) and 649lb-ft (880Nm) of torque. The Bentsley Supersports, perhaps leaving room for flexibility, 'only' eeks 621hp (464kW) from the mammoth engine. Performance figures favor the Supersports quite heavily, however. Jetting from 0-60mph in just 3.7 seconds, the Bentley-built car will outrun the edo Speed GT by a half second. At the top end, the cars swap around once again, with the edo's speedo maxing out at 211mph (340km/h). Bentley's car stops at 204mph (328km/h). To get all that power from the big GT, edo uses a high-performance custom exhaust system and an ECU tune, while a 35mm lowering job, stiffer springs and dampers and sporty rubber wrapped around 20in wheels handle the grip side of the equation. The edo-built exhaust features a special remote-controlled butterfly valve to enable classy and quiet cruising or beefy and violent bruising. Finally, the edo Speed GT gets a custom exterior paint treatment, in this case a while undercoat with a streak of black across the top, a formal color combination for a formal attempt on the title of world's fastest GT.edo Speed GT Read More

The skulls and other elements that adorn the car are supposed to constitute a pirate motif, and the matte black exterior color carries through to the completely redesigned interior. To combine the look of a matte color with a pleasing tactile sensation, fine suede and alcantara have been used throughout the cabin, and the exterior styling cues are repeated by embroidery. Each of the five edo LP 710 Audigier cars to be built will be completely customized to the buyer's order, with edo claiming the execution to have "no limits". Different motifs, styling, colors and materials are available, all in an effort to create a highly exclusive and valuable special edition car. As for performance, the LP 710 builds on the base of a standard Murcielago LP 640. After complete disassembly and redesign, the car is rebuilt with new aerodynamics, wheels, tires and a new exhaust. The engine is tuned and modified to increase output to the nominal 710Nm (461lb-ft) of torque and 700hp (530kW). Top speed is raised to 223.7mph (360km/h) - a speed that buyers can reach with a free visit to the Papenburg, German or Nardo, Italy high-speed test tracks. Test driver and racing instructor Patrick Simon will also be on hand to help new owners safely learn to handle their cars. Acceleration is suitably fast as well, with 0-62mph (100km/h) flashing by in just 3.2 seconds thanks to the brawny 6.5L V12 engine.edo Competition Lamborghini Murcielago LP 710 Audigier Read More
  • edo modified Porsche Cayenne GTS gets 450hp

edo modified Porsche Cayenne GTS gets 450hp The idea of a high-performance SUV seems oxymoronic to some, but Porsche's Cayenne, especially the GTS, Turbo and Turbo S variants, go a long way to quell any doubt. With the extra power and aggressive setup performed by edo, the matter is pressed even further.

Cranking out 450hp (331kW) and 391lb-ft (530Nm) of torque, the big SUV is capable of accelerating to 62mph (100km/h) in just 6.4 seconds, carrying on to 168mph (270km/h) - a truly terrifying speed in a typical SUV. To get this much out of the GTS, edo replaces the catalytic converters with high-flow units, adds performance air filter inserts and tunes the ECU on a dyno.

Getting a big SUV slowed back down from 150+mph is no easy feat, and to help with the process, edo has fitted six-piston mono-block calipers onto 380x38mm rotors. Likewise, keeping the GTS tame on the twisties requires serious damping, and a fully adjustable system allows the driver to make changes in ride height, compression and rebound to maximize handling. The appearance of such an impressive performance machine isn't overlooked either, with edo offering a 'power dome' hood, a revised lower front skirt with four fog lights and mesh inerts, plus custom 22" forged wheels with stainless steel outer rims. The huge wheels are wrapped in similarly huge 295/30 tires at all four corners. Interior modifications are left to the customer's tastes, and edo says it will leave no stone unturned - everything from color-coded instrument dials to leather upholstery and custom pedal sets are available.
