Preview: Abt Sportsline turns up the wick on Audi's Q7 V12 oil burner to 560hp Not much is yet known about Abt Sportsline's latest take on the Audi Q7 V12 TDI, but the numbers are enough to pique any enthusiast's interest: 560hp (412kW), 886lb-ft (1,200Nm) of torque and sports-car-like 0-62mph (100km/h) times of just 5.5 seconds.

How Abt boosted the big V12 diesel from its 500hp (373kW), 738lb-ft (1,000Nm) torque baseline to the new and improved status is still a secret, but with that much straight-line juice, it'll be sure to have some suspension and wheel/tire enhancements to help deliver a sportier experience in the curvy bits too.

For now, the photo above, provided by Abt and showing a lightly photo-edited version of the standard Q7 V12 TDI, is the only preview of the car available. Unfortunately for Americans, however, it won't really matter what the final version looks like, the beastly Q7 isn't available as Audi only sells the efficient but decidedly more tame Q7 3.0L V6 TDI in the States.2010 Audi Q7 V12 TDI2010 Audi Q7 SUV Read More

Known as the ABT AS3, the tuned A3 follows in the footsteps of similar work undertaken by ABT on the larger Audi A5. The tuning focuses on both performance enhancements and visual upgrades to give the car more grunt than the standard hatch from Audi while also making it stand out from the crowd. Under the hood, ABT takes the 2.0L TSI engine and winds it up to an impressive 240hp (179kW), rather than the standard model’s 200hp (147kW). Similar gains in performance are available for the other petrol engines in the A3 lineup, including a 35hp (26kW) lift to 160hp (120kW) in the 1.4L TSI engine, and a 50hp (37kW) lift to 210hp (157kW) in the 1.8L TSI unit. For the 2.0L turbodiesel A3, ABT can also lift power to a maximum of 190hp (142kW), along with plenty of torque. To help control the extra power on the road, ABT is also offering custom made performance springs that lower the car by 35mm. When coupled with an upgraded braking system, the ABT AS3 should prove to be significantly more agile than the factory A3 on the road. In terms of visual upgrades, ABT is offering a number of modifications including a new bonnet, grille, bumpers, fenders and LED daytime running lights. A full bodykit consisting of a front spoiler insert, side skirts, fender inserts, and a custom rear apron is also available.ABT Sportsline Audi A3 AS3 Read More

ABT Sportsline adds AS5 package to new A5 Cabrio ABT Sportsline is a long-time Audi tuner with very close ties to the German carmaker’s motorsport division. The firm was recently enlisted by Audi to help develop its R8 LMS race car and the experience gained from the high-level of engineering and testing that went into the car has now been transferred into the latest tuning package for the new A5 Cabrio.

The new AS5 kit has previously been launched for the A5 Coupe but now it is being applied for the full A5 Cabrio range. Under the bonnet is a series of power upgrades achieved via tuning of the different engines’ electronic control modules.

The new AS5 kit has previously been launched for the A5 Coupe but now it is being applied for the full A5 Cabrio range. Under the bonnet is a series of power upgrades achieved via tuning of the different engines’ electronic control modules. Starting with the 2.0L TFSI model, ABT lifts output to 275hp (202kW). With the 2.7L TDI, the standard 190hp (140kW) output becomes a much stronger 230hp (169kW). Next in line is the 3.0L diesel, which is increased in output to 282hp (207kW). Finally, a special ‘Power S’ kit for the 3.0L V6 turbodiesel sees output increased even further to 310hp (228kW). Logically this power also has to be restrained, so ABT has uprated the Cabrio’s brakes and suspension hardware. Finally, expect ABT to launch an even stronger model based around its AS5-R package that was unveiled for the A5 Coupe at March’s Geneva Motor Show.ABT Sportsline AS5 Audi A5 Cabrio Read More

Twelve examples will be delivered during the forthcoming weeks to six customer teams, with the first races scheduled to start next month. The six customer teams plan to race in five European GT3 championships as well as in the 24-hour race at the Nurburgring for which Audi Sport has developed an endurance version of the car. The new car has been designed for private customer teams and fully conforms to the production-based GT3 regulations, which means they will be allowable in numerous national and international competitions. Prices start at roughly €250,000 but opt for an Audi-backed support team and prices increase to the €500,000 mark. Because the GT3 regulations prohibit the use of AWD, the Audi R8 GT3 comes with a modified RWD powertrain and a newly developed six-speed sequential sports gearbox. The suspension is almost completely stock, with most of the modifications focusing on weight reduction and improving the car’s aerodynamics package. The kerb weight is an estimated 1,300kg – 300kg less than the production model – and a modified front end and a large rear-wing have been added to generate the required downforce for the race track. The assembly of the race cars including the body shells is made by quattro GmbH in Heilbronn-Biberach, Germany, in a factory hall specifically for the customer sport program. The Audi factory in Györ, Hungary, delivers the V10 engines.Audi R8 GT3 customer race carAudi R8 GT3 Le MansAudi R8 LMS GT3 race car Read More

Inside, the AS5-R gets a custom ABT steering wheel with Nappa leather rim. Carbon-look leather accents, aluminum pedals and a special gear shift finish off the package. ABT Sportsline takes on the KTM X-Bow Taking things to extremes is what car modification houses do best, so starting with the already extreme KTM X-Bow is, to a certain eye, an obvious thing to do. The tuners at ABT think it's not just obvious, but commendable, and have done just that, tweaking the track-day special to yield een more power and performance.

The combination of factory-produced extreme motorsports at KTM and the ABT style of modification and tuning seems an apt fit. The standard KTM X-Bow is capable of 3.9 second dashes to 62mph (100km/h), so the up-rated ABT variant out to be even quicker.ABT KTM X-Bow Read More
