Report: 9ff Working On 250+ mph Convertible GT9R

Speed is, for so many of us, more than an obsession, even more than an addiction, and for a select few, like the tuners at 9ff, it's a way of life. That's what led them to build the Porsche 911 Turbo-based GT9R in the first place, topping 250 mph top speed. But now they're working on a convertible version.

What could have possessed them to do such a thing? Well, the roots of the car apparently lie in the United Arab Emirates, a conglomerate of countries whose car enthusiasts are known for doing things simply because they can.

The car, previewed in the artists' rendering above, sticks fairly close to the standard GT9R's design, but takes the obvious step of opening the top to the sky. At more than 250 mph, the sky is going to be doing its best to cram itself into the cabin barring some serious aerodynamic work, so don't expect the surgical roof removal to come cheap. Power will come from the same 1,120-horsepower stroked 4.0-liter flat six as the GT9R, capable of rocketing the car to 60 mph in under 2.8 seconds and onward to its 257 mph top speed. Of course, with only three examples planned and the target market being one of the wealthiest regions in the world, 9ff will probably have no trouble selling them. No word of expanded production or availability outside the UAE has yet surfaced. [Piston Heads] Read More

More Details Emerge On 9ff's Modified Porsche Panamera

Porsche’s Panamera sedan has just hit the market, but already custom houses are starting their modification programs for the car. One of the most intriguing is from 9ff, the company behind other extreme Porsches such as the Veyron-rivaling GT9 supercar and the 780 horsepower 911 Turbo Cabrio.

As with its previous Porsche projects, the Panamera power-splurge starts with a turbocharger. Available in power ratings from 550 horsepower to 650 horsepower, the 9ff Panamera moves the super sedan into the realm of the uber-sedan. Other upgrades in the queue include 22-inch three-piece alloy wheels, a complete body kit and a reworked interior, all...

As with its previous Porsche projects, the Panamera power-splurge starts with a turbocharger. Other upgrades in the queue include 22-inch three-piece alloy wheels, a complete body kit and a reworked interior, all on display in these renderings. Three stages are proposed so far, starting with the PT55 at 550 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque thanks to a boosted ECU tune and higher-flow air filters. An exhaust upgrade gets you to the PT60, which boasts 600 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, and the range-topping PT65 gets the 650 horsepower output due to an upgraded turbo, re-tune and exhaust, while also adding a vented hood to help cool the engine bay. The project is, however, still in its early stages, so expect to see further developments both in terms of performance and exterior appearance, before the car gets built out and hits the street. • 9ff modified Porsche 911 GT2 reaches 240mph

9ff modified Porsche 911 GT2 reaches 240mph Driving the Porsche GT2 is often described as dancing with death - consider that the GT2 takes all the mechanicals of the Porsche 911 Turbo, then adds more horsepower and removes the safety of all-wheel-drive, leaving you with a car that will pirouette on cue without cautious use of the right foot.

Apparently, though, the engineers at famed Porsche-tuning firm 9ff thought that the standard GT2 was a bit lacking in the power department, and on further reflection we can see how 530hp (395kW), a 3.7 second sprint to 62mph and a top speed of over 200mph might get a little boring. To remedy this, 9ff has just revealed its new 'BT-2' modification... To remedy this, 9ff has just revealed its new 'BT-2' modification program for the GT2 supercar. Utilizing a new exhaust system, some subtle reprogramming of the ECU and some neat aerodynamic mods, the BT-2 from 9ff is just what suicidal Porsche fans have been waiting for. Boasting 350hp (261kW) more than the standard model, the BT-2 takes its 850hp (634kW) and 678lb-ft (920Nm) of torque and transmits it to the road efficiently enough to hit 62mph in just 3 seconds flat, and the car will be doing just shy of 200mph after 19 seconds. If you have the patience and a road that’s straight enough, the BT-2 will take you on to a top speed of almost 240mph, a speed not far off from what the Bugatti Veyron can achieve. If you're brave enough, 9ff already offers other vehicles that can outpace the Bugatti Veyron's top speed of 407km/h, and the company is currently working on a vehicle that it hopes will eventually outdo the world's fastest production vehicle, the SSC Ultimate Aero TT. • 1,300hp 9ff DraXster based on the Porsche 911

1,300hp 9ff DraXster based on the Porsche 911 Porsche tuning specialists 9ff has unveiled its latest supercar, this time a modified Porsche seemingly focused on drag racing. Featuring a 4.0L twin-turbo flat six engine, the new 9ff puts out around 1,300hp (970kW) while torque spikes at 877lb-ft (1,190Nm). All that horsepower is contained in a lightweight 1,168kg package, meaning that the 9ff DraXster is capable of hitting 161mph (260km/h) in a Veyron beating time of just 9.5 seconds.

Currently, pricing and final top speed figures for the DraXster are unknown, but with that amount of power the car may be capable of beating the SSC Ultimate Aero TT, which recently claimed the title of... Currently, pricing and final top speed figures for the DraXster are unknown, but with that amount of power the car may be capable of beating the SSC Ultimate Aero TT, which recently claimed the title of world's fastest production car with its 255mph top speed. On the other hand, 9ff has already been working on a different car to specifically beat the record held by the SSC Ultimate Aero TT, in the form of the 9ff GT9R. Final specs for that car are yet to be released but some initial numbers included a 1120hp (836kW) and 774lb-ft (1,050Nm) output from the standard 9ff GT9’s twin-turbocharged 4.0L flat-six engine, which incidentally is rated at 987hp (726kW) and 710lb-ft (964Nm) of torque. The 9ff DraXster is most likely then focused on acceleration performance as its name suggests rather than all out top speed, and considering the lack of aerodynamic adornments to the car as seen on the GT9 it is unlikely that it has been designed for beating a top speed record. The car was also given a bright red paint scheme with contrasting carbon-fiber accents, and a fully customized bodykit with cut-out front wheel wells. Availability and final specifications are yet to be revealed, but in the meantime head over to Supercars.net to see more images. 9ff also used this weekend’s Essen event to showcase its still-in-development GT9 ‘R’ supercar, with which the company hopes to claim the title of world’s fastest production car. Featuring a 1,120hp (836kW) and 774lb-ft (1,050Nm) forced-induction powerplant, the new model will have to outpace the 411km/h (255mph) top speed set by the SSC Ultimate Aero TT. Read More
  • Faster 9ff GT9 ‘R’ in the works

Faster 9ff GT9 ‘R’ in the works Engineers at 9ff finally reached their goal of building a car capable of toppling the Bugatti Veyron’s top speed title by unveiling the 409km/h (254mph) GT9 supercar earlier this year. However, during the car’s long gestation, a new speed king arrived on the market in the form of the SSC Ultimate Aero TT, which has reached a top speed of 411km/h (255mph).

Not wanting to settle for second place, those same 9ff engineers are now reportedly working on a more powerful version of the GT9 – the GT9R. Not wanting to settle for second place, those same 9ff engineers are now reportedly working on a more powerful version of the GT9 – the GT9R. This computer generated rendering of the GT9 sporting a new rear wing, an updated front bumper and splitter, and new wheel well extractors, plus a side mounted exhaust system, is a close representation of what to expect for the GT9R. Final specs are yet to be released but some initial numbers include a 1120hp (836kW) and 774lb-ft (1,050Nm) output for the standard GT9’s twin-turbocharged 4.0L flat-six engine, which incidentally is rated at 987hp (726kW) and 710lb-ft (964Nm) of torque. Expect production of the GT9R to be even less than the already limited GT9, of which only 20 examples are destined to be built. Pricing will almost certainly exceed the GT9’s €498,000 ($785,677) sticker as well. Autoblog.nl9FF Porsche GT9 supercar nears production Read More
