Lorinser preps 500hp Mercedes Benz C-Class for 2009 Tuner Grand Prix
December 31st, 1969
Modified Mercedes Benz vehicles are far from uncommon, and the methods applied are likewise becoming rote: big, flashy wheels, aggressive bodykits and, of course, more power. Lorinser sticks with this tried and true formula and ends up with something not too dissimilar to the original specifications of the cars it modifies, not to mention several orders of magnitude more tasteful than many alternative brands.
The tuner’s latest efforts center on the Mercedes C-Class platform, in particular the high-performance C63 AMG. Lorinser plans to compete in this weekend’s Tuner Grand Prix on the Hockenheimring in Germany with its LV8 C-Class saloon, which has been pumped up to 500hp (368kW) and 442lb-ft (600Nm) of torque.
This level of tuning will see the C-Class accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 4.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 320km/h. Handling gets a boost as well, with lowering springs giving the car a lower center of gravity and slightly greater resistance to body roll. Big 19in alloy wheels focus on lightness and style, helping put the power to the ground and keep the car agile as well.
The car will compete this weekend in the C3 Class for the Tuner Grand Prix where it will be up against other tuner cars from the likes of Techart, Brabus and Kicherer.Lorinser LV8 based on the Mercedes Benz C63 AMG
