Russian Automotive Design working on Porsche Cayenne Coupe for 2010

December 31st, 1969 It's not often that the works of Russian automotive designers grace our screens, and when it does the designs tend to be a little more 'unique' than we are normally used to. In this vein, the latest design to come out of Moscow design studio 'Russian Automotive Design' takes the Porsche Cayenne, one of the biggest, lumbering SUVs on the road, and converts it into a sporty coupe with high ground clearance. The custom Cayenne coupe is currently in the concept stages and not many details are known but it appears as though Russian Automotive Design is actually widening and lengthening the car for some reason. Images of the work in progress reveal a tapered down tail at the back and the fiber-glass construction of the actual body panels appears as though the car will be a definite departure from the styling of the standard Cayenne SUV on which it’s based. Currently, the styling details are being kept secret but the spatial frame definitely suggests a more coupe like profile. It’s uncertain what powerplant will be used but previously Russian Automotive Design has built several custom Cayennes in the past and most of these kept their standard powertrains. The latest project is currently slated for a 2010 release, and personally we're looking forward to seeing the Cayenne coupe in all its glory - after all there have been some successful Russian designs based on German cars in the past, such as this redesigned BMW 6-series from Volga.
