Lincoln reveals MKT crossover pricing

December 31st, 1969 After first showing the MKT in concept form at last year’s Detroit Auto Show, Lincoln unveiled the 2010 production model of the striking crossover at this year’s event. The three-row MKT is larger than the current two-row MKX crossover and joins the recently revealed MKZ sedan as part of Lincoln’s refreshed 2010 lineup. Priced to start at $44,995, the MKT is clearly positioned at the mid-level luxury segment, especially once one moves up to the more powerful EcoBoost engine and AWD drivetrain, which starts at $49,995. An 'Elite Package' is available for an additional $5,000, which includes adaptive cruise control, collision warning with brake support, blind spot information system, cross traffic alert, voice-activated navigation and a power-opening panoramic sunroof. Showcasing the latest iteration of Lincoln’s new design language, the MKT features a split waterfall grille, a beveled chamfer along its shoulder line, a flowing cantrail that frames the windows and full-width horizontal taillamps spanning the liftgate. Inside, there are leather-trimmed seats, floating armrests, and an optional flow-through second-row center console and LED-detailed instrument cluster. Some of the options customers will be able to choose from include a fixed glass panoramic roof, or an available power adjustable version, either six or seven-passenger variations with two different second-row seating configurations, a standard 60/40 split folding rear bench seat features heated outboard seating positions, and a rear console-mounted refrigerator. Two different powertrains will be available to MKT buyers - a 3.7L Duratec petrol V6 with 268hp (200kW) and 267lb-ft (362Nm) of torque, or the new 3.5L EcoBoost petrol V6 with 355hp (265kW) at 5,700rpm and 350ft-lb (474Nm) of torque. Drive is sent to the wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission, and drivers will be able to shift gears manual using a pair of paddle-shifters located behind the steering wheel. AWD is optional on the 3.7L model and standard on EcoBoost models. Engineers focused on reaching a high level of comfort for the MKT, adding a new rear suspension system with a “one for one” shock absorber ratio. This improves rear suspension isolation and enables the use of 20in wheels. Advanced technologies include the recently revealed Active Park Assist for automatic parallel parking, electronic power steering, adaptive cruise control, keyless entry and engine start functionality, adaptive headlamps with standard HID globes, rain-sensing wipers, and Lincoln’s SecuriCode keypad entry system. Other safety features include Ford’s new MyKey controller, Blind Spot Information System, Cross Traffic Alert, and a reversing camera. Additionally, the MKT is also fitted as standard with Ford’s latest-generation SYNC connectivity system, which comes with 911 Assist and full control for the vehicle’s 10-speaker stereo system. The Lincoln MKT will be built at Ford’s Oakville assembly plant in Ontario, Canada, and will be in North American dealer showrooms by the middle of the year.2010 Lincoln MKT crossover

  1. Wow, a Lincoln spin on the hearse, with a turbo engine option soon, the dead can go out in style

  2. I'm speechless and not in a good way. The grille alone will probably result in more bird strikes than a fleet of jet aircraft.

  3. is this the lincoln version of the flex?

  4. i cant put in words how ugly this is, i hate this car.

  5. james.. thats exactly what it is...

now luxury station wagons are a market! first the SRX.. and now this... i guess ford couldnt let gm take ALL the market share.. :P

although i must say that the interior is awesome..

  6. Guess it is too bad the SRX looks way better then this travesty

  7. Well... what can I say... Its a brick.

  8. The Ford Flex looks very good, this doesn't.

Does anyone else think it looks like an Audi Q7 with Lincoln badging on it?

  9. @SS89

Yeah, the same thing actually came to my mind when I first saw it. I looked at it side by side w/ an Audi Q7 and iduno, everything looks different yet somehow when you glance over it it feels the same I guess? Just can't put my finger on what exactly is similar.

  10. I'm thinking it is a good effort. . . At the same time it is obvious this is the same chasis as the Flex. And yes, very Q7 which I almost bought but never completely fell in love with. Great application for limo and car service. I think we will see a lot of them in Black at the Four Seasons and the like.

  11. Ford has literally put the cart before the horse. Its a pretty cart but we know from the Flex that the horse will not pull it with any type of urgency. Mercedes, Audi and BMW have cultivated the aura of the Autobahn rocket that justifies premium pricing. Ford has been too lackadasial about elite performance to get away with premium pricing. Ecoboost (TwinForce?) should be the halo that heralds the brand. It should have been ready at launch to make early adopters feel good about the premium prices they'll be paying. If Mullaly has a failing it's that he doesn't understand you can't market cars like airplanes. We are the pilots. A luxury cabin for the passengers is'nt enough. We want something that really flies, or at least promotes that perception for people who buy lesser models of the nameplate. Edsel Ford knew that Lincoln needed a V-12 in the 30s & 40s to make it special. Ford doesn't even have the Zoom Zoom of Mazda to tout. If the LS had been cheaper and designed domestically... Its owners still love the performance. Every Mustang buyer is spiritually a GT or Shelby driver. He may not be able only to afford the V6 but he identifies. The urgency of the Ford GT should have been put on echoboost in older to build up a new domestic chic.

  12. Rickyx, you spelt a word wrong, LACKADAISICAL. If you are going to use complex vocabulary I would suggest that you check your spelling first. Also, I think that it is good that Ford is going out there with good products with great interiors and fairly decent exteriors as well. While I definitely think they should have put more of the concept into the exterior, they did a good job. Yes, a breakaway design is just what Lincoln and Ford could use, but they are in a better position than GM and Chrysler, so the guys at Ford are taking large strides, but aren't willing to risk the farm before there is absolutely no other choice.

  13. It REALLY does look like a RIGHT WHALE.

    i have included a link: http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/species-especes/species/fullSize_rightWhale_2_e.asp

you be the judge...i am not saying it is ugly, the whale is rather cute; BUT, that grille belongs back with the whale from which they (Lincoln) stole it.

  14. OH!

and don't insult the Q7 with comparing this thing to it. It is NOT something I would ever want to drive.

The rear is a little sexy though....reminds me of "Baby's Got Back."

Now, if only she could get a front worthy of her back!

  15. Those that forget the Aztek are doomed to repeat the Aztek.

  16. Sorry but I have been lackadaisical about using spell check. Autonomus perhaps you have some influence at Ford. Being a Ford fan myself, I would like to see an MKT smoke a BMW like that ecoboost Taurus did in that highly viewed youtube video-that I think was made by Ford. I grew up when Lincoln and Cadillac were considered the top brands to Americans. Since that time Mercedes and BMW and lately Lexus have entered into the lexicon as synonymous with unsurpassed. Do you not understand that Americans cheered when the Hybrid Fusion beat the Camry. King Henry the first built a race car before he built a peoples car. The V8 Ford invented the Hot Rod industry. You have to beat not equal the top euro-asian brands to compete in the rarified atmosphere of that price range. Perhaps Ford should import some european powertrain engineers as well as cars. If you need to take some bailout money to do this, why not, everybody else has! LOL
