Renault Sport Megane Coupe will sport uprated brakes, stiffer suspension and more power
Enlarge PhotoAccording to a new report, the next RS Megane could pick up the storied ‘GTI’ moniker. Not surprisingly, one of its main rivals is the Volkswagen Golf GTI, which will also see the introduction of the Mark VI model next year. The latest snippet of information was first reported by AutoExpress, which also claims the car will not only match its 210hp (156kW) VW rival in name but in performance as well.
While the engine lineup in the standard Megane Coupe will mirror that of the five-door hatch, the new Megane RS or GTI Coupe will feature a high-performance 2.0L turbocharged unit developing at least 230hp (171kW). Drive will be sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual as standard.
The car is also expected to be lighter than the outgoing R26 due to extensive use of lightweight materials in its construction. It should be capable of completing the 0-62mph sprint in under six seconds, and should be able to reach top speeds of around 150mph.
Aside from the Brembo brake calipers and a central mounted exhaust system integrated in the rear bumper, it is expected that the final version will likely sport an aggressively styled bodykit and 18in forged alloy wheels. Other features that should carry over from the current model include a limited slip differential, uprated dampers, and the latest iteration of Renault’s sporty ‘Cup’ chassis.
Additionally, there are rumors about a possible five-door version of the car, as well as a replacement for the current 175hp (130kW) diesel RS.
Inside, expect to see sporty Recaro bucket seats, leather trim, aluminum pedals, and possibly some use of carbon-fiber for trim accents.

Meet the top commenters on the LeaderboardIs it me or could you rebadge this car and sell it as a Saturn? Nice looking car though.
Looks nicer then the Saturn
That's impossible, MotAuth!!! The Volkwagen Group has registered that name, that's why all carmakers invent their own names (Cupra, RS, VTS, Abarth).
looks delish, i hope renault keep it up.
